Here is the message I got back from Jim ;) (A gaming mate in the USA)
"There's a script that does it for you, though I can't for the life of me remember what it's called or where I got it. I think if you do some Google combo searches (phpbb ezboard convert, etc.) you'll probably find it.
We've also got some experienced phpBB mods on the roster, so if you have trouble with it or can't find it, hit up Tavern Tech and see if anyone else has done it.
When I did it, it involved installing the script on our end, following the config instructions, manually unlocking all locked threads on the EZboard, and making sure I was importing each forum to its proper destination. It had to be run for each forum, so it does take a bit of time. Our EZboard was majorly popular, and I think the process took me about two hours.
Anyway, happy to help if I can, but I honestly just kinda fumbled my way through it. ;)

I'll be checking this out - but I reckon we ask for the dump, run the script & get a welcome page going DJ & set it all up & then we can really see how it all works ;)

There's nothing to f*** up because we will still have this Forum running until we are completely happy with the other site.
We can even set it up on the existing host where it is (My host) and then if ok move to our own (meaning the Club) host which will be owned by Volvi and Demeester...
At worst if we don't like we go back to the old..simple.

first you have to conclude which system of board to use seems like pph or whatever its called.
If and I repeat if we change over it will have to be hosted with a permanent name, namely our own maybe like ozbusa or I noticed recently Glen has created a site with a desired name.
either way theres no harm in experimenting at this stage.

Ok, I had a look around the small machines website itself. I dont know if anyone else has looked but it would seem to me if they cant get the website that represents themselves right (i.e. someone needs to work on their layout so you can even read it first) then perhaps the forum software isnt that great.. No offence but we all get a little precious about things like our bikes and our forums, why ? because we expect we will be with them for a while. For me, Im putting small machines in the NQR basket.
I looked at some items like the ability to add tables to your posts. This is a great idea but is to simple to be usefull.
Things like scrolling and glowing text, yeah, its cool for the first three times people use it, then its obnoxious. So i guess im saying there are some areas where they have provided the unnecessary and neglected options that would be usefull by providing a half arsed implementation.
I might have high expectations but if the businesses I have worked for presented themselves in the way small machines has on their site, we would be laughed at and the competition would be smiling. As they say, its all about the perception and first impressions.
Its also a little yesterday with the look.. Trying to be modern and retro all at the same time. I guess that just comes down to picking the theme though.
That doesnt mean it wont suit the busa club. It may prove to be exaclty what ya all after... I went in excited and left thinking, yeah, whatever.
Im not sure what the benefits that small machines provides over what we have now. If its the ability to back up our own data, then that is a big benefit. If we can manage to do that through here somehow, then I'm not convinced that the move should yet be made. Now that comes from someone who works in the industry and as a programmer I am always pushing for a move to the next best thing, new gadget etc..
I think it comes back to what a few people have said, weigh up the pros and the cons of each and work out where to go from there. If smh scores on top, we go for it.. If not, we go for something else.
Some people might love what they have seen, so dont jump on me :-) unless you got boobies, and not man ones.. Its just my opinion.
I dont know how available you all are, but I am happy if a few people want to drop by my place at some stage and look around at the options, costs etc.. and make some evaluation on each of them as a group.
Anyways, I'm not a newbie on the pc, or with bikes but I am a newbie around here, so just an opinion to put with the others..

ok, back to the opening, a mans home is his castle and lets face it, some of you guys live in a house, but inside that house you have a pc... and while inside that house you sit at the pc and live inside this forum... so while i would push for a change, I would be pushing to make sure its the right one!
