With little or no data in it, it works a treat except I didn't register to give it the full rundown.
The Ulysses went through the pain of creating a whole new website about 2 years ago and they ran two separate sites simultaeneously for about 6 months while they moved across.
Now that they are all on the one and everyone has adapted, it is better than before with less spamming etc.
They have over 30,000 members though. Makes our 800 look a bit small.
BUT GOOD THINGS COME IN SMALL PACKAGES!
I really like our current site because it is different to all the rest.
If you can maintain that individuality, all the better DJ.

Yep - this is what we have been talking about in the other thread
We can add on things - add in different looks that each person can choose to their own liking.
The searching is great - easy to use & setup as well.
All we need now is a dump - import - a nice new front page & back up / DR plan (The what if everything blows up plan )

Once we get the data dump we can upload it on this test forum to make sure evrything is possible.
Then maybe run the 2 in synce until a deadline.
And then if serious get a host and maybe even our own domain name.
All up less than $100 a yr..Easy.
Existing moderators have full control as per now.
Nothing changes there...just a better Board, a www addy and a bigger profile in cyberspace.

Ok, the folks on the board all know how much people contribute everyday, because your here.... everyday....
Why should it matter if you have a high post count....(nothing personal ofcourse Mr. astro ) but really, you guys will have the same post count before long.. it's all good.. no tears please..
As for the new site idea.... sounds fantastic to me. Seems easy to use on the surface and the true techno boffins give it the so who am I to object?

The main thing is transferring the data.
If we can do that then I reckon we should give it a go.
We may have to manually do post counts if that IS an issue.
Probably only around 100 active users anyway I figure.
We can run both forums at the same time and then when everyone is happy with the look move over Cheers,
