Hey Guys,
I have taken this week off work to relax a bit, and I want to change the oil etc in the busa. I haven't done it myself yet so could someone please point me towards a good thread to read and get some pointers.
Do we have a manual "Servicing Hayabusas for Dummies ??" on the forum anywhere ??
Thanks guys ..
Dale

Watch the you tube video on removing Hayabusa fairings, lift the tank to get to air box... That's pretty much it. If your putting on an oil filter that you can undo with a socket, that will make it easyer next time round. Is it a major or minor service? (how many kms)?

And use a tension wrench to do up the sump plug. A few guys here have done the plug up too tight and stripped the thread in the sump pan. 16.5 ft lbs is the correct torque setting :)

Busdriver (aka Les)

If you're not ready yet, no probs mate...I can get some now by myself....but if we order at the same time, we'll both save a few buck$ on the shipping!!! I'm easy either way, juz let me know one way or the other...

+1
Been there done that and I'm not heavy handed!! Ended up changing the sump. I don't have a torque wrench, but less is more. I always change the washer, and just snip it up these days.
to do the oil and filter -
for a gen1 you only need to take off the RHS fairing.
I take out the inner(the black plastic bits) and outer panels out in one go. Remember the little clip up under the nose, spread them apart and lift out forward. Whole thing should take 5 mins tops. Be especially careful that the lugs go in right when you re-assemble, or it could scratch.
I only ever do up my oil filter hand tight, and have never had a leak. I have a cheap belt type filter tool to get them off($2 throw out bin type)
just found this - pretty much how I do it.
