I've just got the trackie home. Dragged her on the trailer up the Hume, dragging heaps easier after I raised the psi from 12 to 28 at Pheasants Nest! I stopped twice, and both times blokes dashed across the carpark to talk RGV. Pheasants Nest was fun, one bloke was an old racer and loved the RGVs. The second was funnier, while I was getting fuel, a man walked over and said, 'motorbike huh?' gesturing at the bike on the trailer. He walked around it in silence for a while, eyeing it up and down then said, 'yeah, you're going to need new tyres'. 'How come?' I asked, they've only done two trackdays at Eastern Creek, and they worked brilliantly. 'Your ones are all roughed up'. I explained sometimes they look like that. He brightened up, 'do you have tyre warmers?' I said no, I haven't hit that level yet. He said, 'my mate has those, he uses them because you don't have to change your tyres very often. He has slick tyres, they cost $110 for a PAIR!'. I expressed amazement and shock at this wonderful bargain as I backed towards the service station to pay for my petrol. Seems everyone loves the RGV.

She can be a bit tricky to start, so Bruce and I took turns kicking and swearing until she started. Next job is to put a choke on her.

The bike on the trailer, note the shiny new tie down straps.

And here is the trackie on the trailer in my backyard. After several (hundred) unsuccessful atttempts to reverse the trailer into the driveway, I gave that up as a STUPID BLOODY IDEA and just pushed it in.

Once again, thanks to Bruce. He is annoying, but he knows how to tie stuff down.

So glad that bike turned out so well.
What's next? You going to do any suspension, power or bling bling mods to it?
Reply
Yep, have it booked in for a full suspension overhaul and we are putting a choke on it (otherwise my leg might drop off). After that, I'm thinking bling. I've been trying to get pazzos for it, but THEY DON'T MAKE THEM! What would make them think people wouldn't want to bling up a 21 year old, 250cc, two-stroke? I've tried to work out what other levers might fit, but have been unsuccessful so far. The bar ends are scratched, so I'm looking for new ones. I MIGHT get a new dash, mine is a bit ugly, but I tend not to be looking at anything but the tacho anyway. If a set of unscratched exhaust cans turn up on ebay for the right price, I might consider it.

Other than that, she is BEAUTIFUL and needs no adornment!

Dont forget there is the other bike here that has a dash.

How much for the dash, and does it go to 300?

You can get your exhaust ceramic coated in most colours ...Even purple Scary

Tonight I couldn't help myself, I hitched the trackie up again and took it to Canberra Riders coffee night. The crowd went NUTS, lots of kicking the tyres of the trailer (aparently I need a smaller profile tyre), it isn't tied down properly (everyone's a critic) and Busdriver wanted to know what that weird lever thing was on the side of the bike (kickstart dopey). Everyone wanted to ride it around the carpark and everyone was astounded by the paint job. Aparently I'm not allowed to participate in the racing group they have started here, the bike is too good.

They are coming to Marulan this weekend to cheer me on when I brave the goat track for the first time.

I got a whole lot of new shiny tools.

But what is that random black rectangular thing?
Reply
Heidi, that's called a tool box!

I was thinking more along the lines of the one sitting on the storage box BEHIND the tool box. It would go down a treat in Windsor!
