Hi all. I have a stock 99 busa i use for drag racing and have been getting clutch shutter. Its good for about 3 or 4 passes but when the bike is hot is when the problem is at its worst. I have had the BTL welded and i am using heavy duty springs. Apart from that everything is stock. Any suggestions? Do i need a brocks cushion kit?

Check the condition of the basket and hub, might also do with a set of plates and fibres.

What brand of plates do you have?
Is the clutch lever a lot harder than stock to pull in?
Have you got a picture of the btl?

Without seeing the btl I'll assume its ok....
Are the barnett springs longer than stock?
Do the Barnett springs feel stronger than stock(by squeezing them)?
If you have access to a spring gauge this would help but the finger test will give enough info for now.

Have you checked if the clutch plates (steels and fibres) are not warped? This can be done by placing one plate at a time on a flat surface (eg. a sheet of glass) and see if the plate rocks or wabbles. Also, what type of engine oil are you using? Some engine oils (for motor cars) are not compatible with motorcycle clutches!

God bless, once the shutter starts - its a pain in the ass - single reason for me selling my 00 busa. Not happy with Clutch even after changings plates and springs, I also wanted a Gen2
