Moving the battery around

I'm wondering if it's ok to lay batteries over? Not quite on their side but past 45*.
I'm talking about the k8 battery inparticular.

It is a sealed unit and you would think it would be ok but it is mounted in the bike upright and comes in a box that says "This way up" so, there may be a problem, or not....

I suppose that is why you are asking.

You could test it by laying it on a bench for a couple of hours and holding a multimetre on it I reckon.

Go ahead, risk it for the club and let us know.

the stock yuasa ytx range needs to be filled when brand new so i would assume its not a sealed battery. the ytz range of yuasas are a sealed battery and id be more inclined to incline with that one.

Like spamanglen said, it's not sealed from factory and it will leak, it will also die prematurely. I notice that Suzuki cants the battery in the burgman, but its a sealed unit.

I've used the DEKA, damn fine battery.

In regards to the sealed units... I'm wondering if canting the battery to 45 degrees means that a proportion of the plates will be permanently dry. The acid level when upright would mean the plates are always wet, whereas canting to 45 degree would expose a portion of the plates for the majority of the time (especially when parked) and would probably cause damage? Just a thought.

Can't for the life of me remember what battery I had In the TLR but they lay flat as standard
