Unfortunatly it sounds like the 2nd gear teeth are worn (Rounded or camphored) If you act now you might save some dollars but at the end of the day the motor needs to be removed and the gearbox opened up! Correct me if I'm wrong people!!!!!
Woman,where's my wallet?

Billet shift shafts--will prevent it from happening again--while you've got it open---TTS Performance High Ratio 5th & 6th Gear. Heavy Duty output shaft & Low Ratio 1st gear. Up on the front sprocket, down on the back.Scary

how many km's has your bike done?

is your bike set up as std factory shift pattern or been reversed?

Could be clutch slipping?

Let us know what it turns out to be.

the sooner you get it fixed the less parts you will need
the gear dogs can be recut if there not too far gone, racecut even so they pull together rather than drive apart under load
shift forks need replacing and the shafts checked.
Figure your in NSW from Bruces comments, and good advise

....though this problem never surfaces on the older models. Only seems to happen to 04 onwards (and 1 03 I've heard of)

The 5th n 6th should get ya steamin down the highway at 3700rpm n you'll be trying your hardest to stick to the legal speed limit, saving fuel n saving your motor. Has anybody successfully designed a "K" Band radar jammer yet ?Wm
