Rules For Moderators
#16
I dont like rules at all. Generally moderators action are fair and reasonable, one moderator pisses me and many others off for the following reasons.

Inappropriate discussion on this board.
Deleting posts for no reason other than personal ones.
Arrogant attitude to any one who does not share his views.
Abusive attitude to others who do not share his views.
Holier than thou attitude
Devisive action on this forum generating a them and us attitude.

This is not a personal vendetta its my opinion of his actions and I am not alone. Im my opinion this moderator is the only reason I want transparency in moderators actions. If all actions are reported in a public log then we can all see what moderation actually happens here.

Why would anyone object to their actions being recorded and visible to the forum.

Hi there,

As I was part of the discussion last time on moderation, I think Bruce should add one more rule, and that is to remove all debate on moderation as to question the powers that be is forbidden.

Since the last discussion, I have lost faith in the moderation of this forum. I know a few of the moderators personally and have time for them as individual people, but I only have faith in one moderator on this forum, the rest of you have dissapointed me.

In the last discussion, by the balance of probability, it was proven that moderation on this forum is by and large run to an ulterior motive rather than the common good. It was also proven that some members of the moderation team felt that they could do what they want, whenever they want, to whoever they want without any consequence.

Until this attitude is addressed I will not have confidence in this process. Please bear in mind that the issues raised here have been raised by numerous people, each with their own unique online personalities. I think that now is the time to address these issues so that we can all move on.

One last thing that I would like to add is a habit that has sprung up on here where some members who are not moderators choose to weigh in on issues that are not theirs to become involved in. I know that I can get a bite on this if I chose to whenever I want, and it is blatantly obvious.

I guess since the Aust Hayabusa Club does not believe in censorship that this thread will be locked and or deleted soon since it will be treated as an attack against the moderating of the club forum.

Without delving in all the details of your last post Bruce, I think the idea of admins/moderators logging thread has great merit and may be viewed by all members as to any reasons therein recorded by the admin/moderator as to his actions and on what grounds. I think that all admins/moderators would welcome the opportunity in explaining theyre actions without having to open a thread or post somewhere explaining their actions.

Thank you Volvi.

Would you please remove the general discussions from this thread. Dont get me wrong I would love to talk to members about group sex but please for once not here.

There have been many posts in the past where people have made snide or personal comments about a moderator. That is probably a sign of frustration at his actions, lets open discussion here without insulting personal comment and just discuss clear transparent moderation.

Every club needs moderators because of the many and varied personalities which are a part of it, just as a members posts are open to scruitiny so should moderators actions be - not to be criticised but so that the membership can see what action has been taken and why - plus it keeps pettiness and personal attacks out of it because its a transperent process. Thanks Volvi for taking the first step Pi_thumbsup

What I would like to see is a separate section on the forum front page called Moderation or something like that.

1. The moderation section would list moderator code of conduct. Basically the rules mods must follow.

2. The Moderation section would list all moderators actions on this forum. All actions taken as a moderator as stated in the rules I posted earlier or another version more realistic.

2. The moderation section would also contain a link for members to contact the moderation team. The member would hit that link and list their comments or complaints. Those comments would be sent to all moderators. If the complaint was about a particular mod then another mod must reply. All comment/complains and the mods response would be listed on the moderation page for all to see.

3. The moderation section would only be accessable to current members and members would not be able to directly post in this section. The only action a member can take is to hit the link to voice their comments. This will keep our dirty laundry within the club.

4. This section would then do two things - it will show the dumb ass shit the moderators have to deal with on a daily basis and show which members are making pointless complaints. It will also show all actions moderators take and make their duties totally open for all to see.

Anyone have any better ideas.

As I have previously stated I thing a log is a good idea and will endeavour after consulting our webmaster DJ in creating one. As to its format and contents we will need to work it out. I personally dont like the terminology of "Rules" for admins/moderators, frankly to date I havent seen anything like that in any forum. Nevertheless I believe its correct and fair for admins/moderators to "undertake" ie adopt certain guidelines to be fair and impartial just some of the attributes to undertake to the membership. As to its written content we will have to formulate taking all the points you have previously mentioned into consideration.

you can report to all admins by just pushing the REPORT button which is on every post page in case people have missed it.

and I am sure that there is a plugin which will leave a message why a post has been deleted. It is common on other boards and a good idea as it also lets everyone know what happened and why.

As for the rest, frankly if you have a system where a mod has to log in information each time he does something, the mods will be gone.
They do this for free people, if I was asked to log a report every time I have to do something I would tell you to stick it.
Don't give them more chores to do or they will leave.

I don't have any probs with any of the mods here.
I have never had a post deleted as far as I recall and I have respect for them all...and really the only one I know fairly well is Volvi who really isn't a mod

Volvi Wrote:Bruce - You know I dont have any problem with you or another that I am equally friends with allbeit governed by distance of states. I am not sure I understand why this is being rehashed once again. If an administrator clearly violated any rule I surely would like to hear of it. But if he/she is just doing there job as administrator why does this subject keep raising its head? Could it be beacause its a personal agenda? Or such loathing of a particular administrator that no matter what he does he/she will always face accusations?

Generally speaking I am not a "rule" person. Im no stickler for rules, in fact Im a rebel. I have tried to keep this forum as free as possible with very little censoreship and rules at all. On some rare occasions though it is necessary.

The Forum "rules" have beeen clearly stated and accepted by each and everyone that signs up. Please show me where this may have been violated:

Quote:Australian Hayabusa Club Forum - Registration Agreement
Whilst we attempt to edit or remove any messages containing inappropriate, sexually orientated, abusive, hateful, slanderous, or threatening material that could be considered invasive of a persons privacy, or which otherwise violate any kind of law, it is impossible for us to review every message posted on this discussion system. For this reason you acknowledge that all messages posted on this discussion system express the views and opinions of the original message author and not necessarily the views of this bulletin board. Therefore we take no responsibility and cannot be held liable for any messages posted. We do not vouch for or warrant the accuracy and completeness of every message.

By registering on this discussion system you agree that you will not post any material which is knowingly false, inaccurate, abusive, hateful, harassing, sexually orientated, threatening or invasive of a person's privacy, or any other material which may violate any applicable laws.

Failure to comply with these rules may result in the termination of your account, account suspension, or permanent ban of access to these forums. Your IP Address is recorded with each post you make on this discussion system and is retrievable by the forum staff if need-be. You agree that we have the ability and right to remove, edit, or lock any account or message at any time should it be seen fit. You also agree that any information you enter on this discussion system is stored in a database, and that "cookies" are stored on your computer to save your login information.

Any information you provide on these forums will not be disclosed to any third party without your complete consent, although the staff cannot be held liable for any hacking attempt in which your data is compromised.

By continuing with the sign up process you agree to the above rules and any others that the Administrator specifies.

If a member breaks the rules as in first paragraph then the admins are authorised to act. If an admin breaks the above rules I know members cant edit or delete his/her posts but you can protest or register a complaint to me and if there are grounds I will act upon it.

So far all I have heard are accusations against an admin and without substance. Give me facts that an admin is transgressing and I will be obliged to follow it through. And I dont play 'favouritism'. Busgo, Rod and Heidi are no more and no less friends then any others here yourself included.

And i will moderate this thread and will delete anything not on topic. On principle I am against having this thread as the last one. But in order to be fair and open will keep it open as long as its constructive and doesnt flair up with 'flames' and denigrate the good name of this club.

Why the f*** did you delete my post on this topic?
What i said WAS relevant.

An you wonder why people leave.
Not impressed.

I quote
"Therefore we take no responsibility and cannot be held liable for any messages posted. We do not vouch for or warrant the accuracy and completeness of every message."

Is that so?
So if thats the case, why yous acting like yous
are liable now?

An there is favouritism.
Deny it all you like.
Keep the smack talk up an im off.
" good name of this club"
Yeh.
That went awol a long time ago if you hadnt noticed.

People cant say what they want cuz you delete it
anyway!
I tried to before,an said ' i feel like i cant say what
i want because people will take things the wrong way,
the problem is,what your reading is words.
Not hearing them.
So when someone is being sarcastic or trying
to pass something off as humourous, you cant
always tell, therefore some people end up being offended...

How was that not relevant to what this discussion is about?

I'm not happy at the fact that one moderator took it upon him/her to send a message to bigfoot telling him to stay out of a situation that I have with another member cause I have a history with this bloke,WTF is with that???I never spoke, met or had any contact with this mod but it seems that this ass wipe is able to give advice and has info about what was going on.Please keep in mind that some of what was said between me and this other party was supposed to be personal sent through the PM section.Does that constitute as a breach by this shit for brains mod????Do mods have the right to do that????Can/will that mod be removed if this/was a breach????.
On a personal note it looks like busgo is the centre of attraction, taking all the heat and funnily enough from a group of people who seem to be from NSW with their own agenda???????Its as obvious as the nose on your face said gepetto to pinocchio!!!!!!!
BUSGO I don't like some of the things that you do and some times you need to tell your friends like cheeky to shut the fcuk up because she does you no favours by backing you up in certain discussions with bullshit posts.By the way I'M not the only one who thinks that and if any of the other members here can find their testicle's they will tell you the same. All in all you do a good job and I don't have a problem with you but I believe that people should be able to say what they want and if others complain to the mods about what the member posts than YES they can delete, but make sure you send the poster a half arse explanation why it was removed.

I agree with the second part of your post and am not afraid to say it. I'm happy to back you on this point.

I've had 1 post deleted as far as I can remember.
Not for inapropriate content, but because it was way off thread topic.

On the point of Free Speach:
A few yrs back I made a few comments in a thread which in my mind were simple, factual & not racist, although the comments regarded another country. On those comments I was relentlesly hammered by another member because he didn't agree with my views & he accused me of racism & all sorts of other stuff. I also received a lot of abuse & name calling from him.
None of my posts in that thread were deemed as needing to be removed by mods.

Which goes to show that every decision we all make is based on our own personal outlook & attitude.

As has been said.
Everyone is different & you can't please all of the people all of the time.
