False neutral between 5th & 6th

The secret to getting the GEN II busa to slip into gear properly is in two parts.
1. Use the correct oil to run it in. ( THE STUFF RECOMMENDED IN THE HANDBOOK).
2. If it won't slip into gear from neutral, simply let out the clutch and pull it back in again.
This cycling the clutch action seems to loosen up the drive train and the gear plonks in very easily.

Please don't clonk it in to any gear, you WILL have problems down the track!
If it doesn't slip into 6th gear, adjust your gear lever and use a firm foot but NOT a stomp.

i know what ya mean....mean mine will not go into first sometimes untill i let the clutch back out and in and then it will go straight in!!!

5th and 6th Cheeky....nearly everyone is having the same issue your not alone but i am finding as are other riders using NO clutch on the up shift will help alot and time and K's it will settle in!!

I dont beleive anyone was calling you a fool by the way, just trying to help out with some advice....thats what this forum is all about.
I'd rather be riding my Hayabusa thinking about God than sitting in church thinking about my Hayabusa

thankyou.
sorry i did bite and i shouldnt of have.
maybe its because i have had alot of biased comments because i,m a lady rider so i,m on the defence of everything.
i am particular and knowledgble person and i did quote what a mate of mine told me was too treat it like a man.. that was totally tounge in cheek comment.it wasnt too be taken seriously

of course i dont treat my gorgeous bike roughly but i was tad worried about the gear changes thats why i asked in the first place if anyone had the same probs..

but looking at previous posts in the same line the guys of the forum have been saying the same stuff .
and i cant type too save myself.yup its my flaw

and i only joined this forum because i was in search of some gear for my bike..
then i found some very interesting people on here..

I've had a few problems with my gearbox, just bought some Militech off Ray aka kawasuki, which is suppose to help.

I was trying to be too gentle and that definately didn't work, the higher the revs and the quicker the shift the better mine is.

And welcome to the club ;-)

Beat ya by 5 years on that level and 4 of those on Busas.
I simply offer advice from acquired knowledge and experience.
Take it or leave it.
I rarely offer bad advice though.

Looks like I'm the "bar one". Undecided Sorry if you don't like my advice Cheeky.
I probably come across as a bit arrogant sometimes.
I certainly don't deny that there are shifting problems with the busa gearboxes but most are fixed by following the advice that I offered.

i treat my bike with respect. your number 2 point is exactly my bug bear.it will not "simply " go into neutral whilst letting the clutch in and out.dont you think i have already tried that?

i am an experienced rider with 35 years of knowlegde under my belt.
so i am no fool.
not only experienced with bikes but trucks cars and anything else you would like too name..

i say it how it is.
When I first got my gen 2 Jan 08, the box false neutralled in 5th & 6th gears all the time. I asked the question and got lots of useless advice. The best was don't use the clutch on change-ups to 5 & 6 and this works without a hard shift but must roll-off the throttle. You can still do quick changes even quicker! For my bike I use this method now for change ups from 3rd without problem. Mind you I've only achieved 3500km in 12 months but when I do ride I am a lawbreaker (sorry to admit it).

thank you everyone for your advice even the bar one!! maybe thats your new nick name bugsoBoobies4
when i meet you i will now refer you are the bar oneSmitten
i actually have taken on board your advice.i,m not so stubborn as not too listen too good advice, just the way its given that bugs me:p

too be truthful i was a one eyed honda lover and the busa was giving me great concern over the gear box.
the no clutching reminds me of ranger gearboxes on trucks..it goes against my very grain.
i,m just hoping time and good oil change will help the prob.as i said 5th and 6th no major biggy its the neutral too first.no matter what rocking i do.lever in and out any TLC i give it ,it gives me grief.Read

After some advice from a mate who was a race mechanic for a WSBK team, I don't use the clutch on up shifts anymore, just preload the selector & roll off the throttle slightly. The reduction in power helps the gears align properly & you get a solid, consistent shift & never hit the false neutral. It's apparently better for the clutch too. Alot like the principal behind road rangers.

Hey Cheeky,

some are genuine, some are post whores,

All you've got to do is work out which is which.

In time you will.

Good luck!

I had a few misses on mine from 5th to 6th, when it was new under 700kms, but it its fine now, I have 24 k on it now and going great, that includes 9months at the drags with a airshifter slaming it into the lower gears, if my gear box was going to let go i would thing it would have done it by now

ok had first service and past the 1000km mark since mid nov..(or around that)
the clutch prob isnt as nearly so bad.so i,m guessing with time and wear it will settle into place.

went on toy run and had heaps of looks when i pulled on my helmet and sat on a new hot sexy hayabusa.most guys went dropping jaws and said how does a chick handle a bike like that.

esp the bandgeckos(the bandidos)

and i have neg feedback too.my reply is the power is in the wrist.it only goes as fast as your wrist does...

...i,m stuffed i have a fast wrist

It is a good thing to see isn't it! I come out and jump aboard my lil scoot and it stops them in their tracks. Even funnier when the young ones pull up beside you and finally look over at you on our busa - and I love the lil pinkie wave at them.
