This seems to be a common problem. I've hit it half a dozen times and after reading some advice I took the bike back to the dealer who asserted three mechanics couldn't reproduce the problem and Suzuki Oz had never heard of it. Whilst Im not at all happy about it, after searching further I came accross the advice that you should "ride it like you stole it" and it will get better. I was riding gingerly to begin with and changing up at too lower revs, a bit worried about all that power, but after going harder the gearbox is alot smoother. The only problem now is that I've already got my first ticket, 75 in a 60 and there could already be more on the way }:-(

try adjusting your gear lever this ussualy helps alot. also busa gear boxes need a good "solid" shift

What ........Suzuki never heard of a gearbox problem .........
mine still does it and ive had the gearbox fixed - at my expense.
Just got to kick that shifter hard.

I didn't ever get a neutral between 5th and 6th but I needed to double click it into gear, had the clutch welded which fixed it, now it just falls in to top plus I run some militec in my oil to help smooth things

My old Gen1 used to do a lot of others do too, I found when I was getting lazy / tired it used too happen more often, try some militec as Ruffy said it helps sooth out all the gears, Kawwa sells it here its cheap for what you get out of it

Thx the advice, I'm really not concerned now and yeah it only happens when you arent concentrating, a gear indicator would help might get one of those, I frequently dont know Im at the end anyway and try for 7th.

My Gpro shows 0 when i get the false neutral from 5 to 6

It should, the shift drum is 1/2 way to where it is supposed to be and the GPS is not making contact yet. Long throw on the shift forks for the 5 to 6 change, thats why adjusting the gear lever, militec etc all seem to help.

has anyone tried slick 50? or that lucas stuff?
what about militec other than smoothing out gear changes, any other posivive changes?
i wana try some sort of oil additive but i have always been reluctant in the busa
i have used slick 50 in the odd car but didnt really evaluate it.

i know i,m a woman asking about technical stuff.
i have a prob with my busa with the gear change.hymie the busa is booked in for her 1000km service wednesday week.
now hymie has a prob with her gears and its not just me but hubby says he agrees with me(nope i havent threatened him hehehe)
hub says he feels there is a prob with 5th and 6th gear i havent noticed that but my prob is changing from neutral to first.
i talked to local bike shop and they say that the early busas came out with dodgey gear boxes so they put in heavier gears now you really have too shove them into gear.is that true? should i send busa back too where i bought her from?
any thoughts?

Just be firm with the gear lever and the problem should go away, the busa box is a bit clunky but strong. Also changing up gear 5-6th at low speed can be a pain so i leave it in fith around town as much as possible

Don't treat your gearbox too rough or you will bend the selectors.
The secret to getting the GEN II busa to slip into gear properly is in two parts.
1. Use the correct oil to run it in. ( THE STUFF RECOMMENDED IN THE HANDBOOK).
2. If it won't slip into gear from neutral, simply let out the clutch and pull it back in again.
This cycling the clutch action seems to loosen up the drive train and the gear plonks in very easily.
Please don't clonk it in to any gear, you WILL have problems down the track!
If it doesn't slip into 6th gear, adjust your gear lever and use a firm foot but NOT a stomp.

i treat my bike with respect. your number 2 point is exactly my bug bear.it will not "simply " go into neutral whilst letting the clutch in and out.dont you think i have already tried that?
i am an experienced rider with 35 years of knowlegde under my belt.
so i am no fool.
not only experienced with bikes but trucks cars and anything else you would like too name..
i say it how it is.
