I agree with Graham on this. Plus you have to beat a radio net. Hard to outrunm radio. If the plod turn their warning devices on early and haven't got plate numbers, you have a slim chance but be prepared to work hard to get away.
At the end of the day - if the punishment is sufficiently harsh, we may decide to run.
Once you make that decision - the punishment skyrockets as our young friend above, can you live with that rather than just losing your licence?
Plus the harsh reality of making a mistake while avoiding apprehension could lead to your death or serious injury, if not the death or serious injury or an innocent member of the public = lotsa gaol, disgrace in your community, loss of job, loss of home if you have a mortgage and end up in gaol.
All of that on the balance of run/don't run pushes the decision to run into a very very bad place to be. Hard to live with aye. If we speed and get caught we are the once who decided to speed - cop it sweet, pay the penalty and get on with it. Don't run - the cost can be to high to live with!
Max - off the soap box

i'm with all of the above...don't run you just can't outrun a radio it's impossible!!!
BUT
one of my mates is a copper and he gave me some inside news
He loves the chase but his new SS commodore pursuit car is speed limited i think it is 240 or 260 but definatly speed limited...as he has been caught out a few times on the way up the F3 to an emergency hitting the speed limiter!
he also said most police that he knows will not chase a bike cause of three reasons!
1. they cannot catch a bike in traffic or at high speed.
2. he said that the risk of injury to the rider and investigation of the riders death is too much to take!
3. a radio is more effective so long as someone gets the plate they will see you at home later and most of the time a member of the public will get the plate for them!
I'd rather be riding my Hayabusa thinking about God than sitting in church thinking about my Hayabusa

ahhh so it's simple, don't ride with plates if you plan to run....
doesn't help tho when you have a specially designed bike or paint scheme... individuality comes with easier recognition.....

When Simmo, Bruce and I got done for speeding on the trip, the cop was telling us all about how shit their truck was and how it was heavy and didn't accelerate well. I was listening to all this, so I piped up with, 'so what you are saying is that we should have run?'. he just laughed and said, we would have radioed ahead and got you at the fruit checkpoint.
I'm still amazed the grey nomad chatter didn't dob us in across the Territory.

Now thats good advice. Control your right wrist around town. Dont give the cops any reason to give chase, and you wont need to run.
Take it from some one who knows. $3000 in fines and 18 months without a licence for being a dick head as a young fella can teach you a valuable lesson.
Use speed where its appropriate, and where you wont get caught.

Well this is my 2 bobs worth. If you have local knowledge of the area well most times you will get away but if you dont well there is a greater chance of getting caught. What you are best of doing is planing a escape route when you go riding like have a look around the area where you plan to ride is there any walk ways that you can go down if you do get chased ?spots to hide?

That's not setting a very good example Dad.
Actually, I have been running from the cops a lot lately and the most I got was $1000 fine. Without fail it has resulted in some serious damage to both my vehicle and many innocent bystanders, but that's to be expected I guess. Never done any jail time though, or had my vehicle confiscated and its pretty easy to recoup the cash with a few quick street races. Lost my Camaro in a pink slip race the other day - now that was a real bummer, especially after all the cash I had spent on modding it.

Costs $175 and you have no traffic coming the other way, no radars and you can speed all day long...

Dont worry pan if the government had there way they would have speed camera's there too. LOL
But the thing is that it doesnt take much to speed on high powered bikes maybe we all should get 250cc mini Hayabusa's. But thats no good cop's would catch ya way too easy.
