jailed for speeding - azifucan - 24-11-2008 a local young guy here in dubbo just got jailed for 8 months for doing 170 kph in a 50 zone( on a r1 ithink). pretty clean driving record and no other criminal record. looks like they are out to set an example of him. he has already appealed it and his appeal was dissmissed. the road he was caught on is straight flat , no houses, is a school zone but it was 6.30 am when he was caught. i still cant get my head round that they would jail him for that, i would expect a monster fine and maybe community service or simmilar but 8 months. just a tad excessive me thinks so to all be carefull we all know how easy it is RE: jailed for speeding - busakid08 - 24-11-2008 wow thats heavy and yet they let guys off for doing way less tha that - must be the Dubbo cops RE: jailed for speeding - pan - 24-11-2008 busakid08 Wrote:wow thats heavy and yet they let guys off for doing way less tha that - must be the Dubbo cops Cops don't decide the punishment. The Courts do... RE: jailed for speeding - Heidi1 - 24-11-2008 I think he sounds like a fuckwit. Why would you do 170 in a built up area? Even at 6.30 in the morning, there are kids and dogs around and anyone on the road is probably half asleep. Jail seems a bit rich, but seriously. RE: jailed for speeding - kawasuki - 24-11-2008 now lets focus,, i have seen and heard people getting this type of sentence after killing 1 or two when pissed ![]() RE: jailed for speeding - ross79 - 24-11-2008 I first came across this on this netrider: http://www.netrider.net.au/forums/viewtopic.php?t=59517 RE: jailed for speeding - Busdriver - 24-11-2008 Come to the ACT. The courts don't put you away at all. There's more money to be made in forfeited bail money and good behaviour bonds. If they lock someone up it costs the Govt. RE: jailed for speeding - DAD - 24-11-2008 That's a joke ? That dude must have guned it in first then when he hit second thats when the cops pined him. But what gets me is that you will get more time for robbing a bank then killing somone so that must mean that money is more important than some ones life yep yep lets get it right just like the dude on the R1 lets get it right 7 months jail. They wonder why dudes on bikes run!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. Boc RE: jailed for speeding - 1hotbusa - 24-11-2008 Hi there, I'm surprised that he didnt keep going.......if you are riding at 170 you know they are not going to let you off. For 8 months jail I would have run until the bike had no gas in it. RE: jailed for speeding - Ozboc - 24-11-2008 1hotbusa Wrote:Hi there, Something to think about -- if for example your on the freeway -- Chief wigam is on the centre of the freeway doing speed checks -- your doing 200 - there is little chance he will be able to see your number plate at that speed - he decides to go full noise and chase you ... by the time he has the car running and on the freeway and up to freeway speed - you could be at least 1to2 Km up the road - then he would have to travel at a much higher speed than yourself , presuming you maintain your 200 - or if the adrenaline kicks on -- you may just take it up to 300 - by this time you will have a good few km's on Wigam - there are also 3 exits since he originally seen you -- and a further 5 -- which did you take ? are you still on the freeway ? I don't condone this behavior at all but if your so inclined -- you should be aware of there chances of a capture is very slim ... and if i had not had so many drinks after work --- then i would be able to give actual facts and measurements vs time ..... but i have put my brain into neutral for the evening .... Boc RE: jailed for speeding - bigfoot - 24-11-2008 great advice run away and be free RE: jailed for speeding - LOAFIE - 24-11-2008 Speeding in a built up area is pretty dumb, do you know what road it was? Will give it a wide berth when up there around crissie RE: jailed for speeding - Mutha - 24-11-2008 To run or not to run ![]() last Saturday week 3 blokes I know went for a ride up to the Spurs on there Motards. On the way home Kristian one of the riders was seen by a police car doing a Mono on the Maroondah Hwy Boxhill. kristian said he was going to stop, but the other 2 decided to run for it, so K went along. To cut along story short, they rode through a school ground to try and loose the cops. The cops caught up with them on the Maroondah hwy buy stopping there car across the lanes. They all got there bikes impounded and fined having to face court etc etc. By the way they all rely on there bike licence for an income, being couriers. It's not worth running the risk of some one getting hurt in high speed chase, is it ? RE: jailed for speeding - 1hotbusa - 24-11-2008 I would like to say the following about running. I am not reccomending running from the law. If you choose to do it then it's up to you. However there are a few things that you need to keep in mind. Firstly, you need to decide wether to run or not. Once you decide to run there is no turning back. If you run you need to do it until you get away or you run out of gas. If after 10 minutes you decide to stop and plead your case you will most likely find yourself lying face down with a gun to the back of your head. If you choose to run, your best chance is in the first 30 seconds. How fast does a Hayabusa accelerate compared to a Commodore. If the plod is in a ute or a territory your chances are better than if they are in a V8. As mentioned above, if they cant see you they cant chase you. If you want to stand a chance of getting the chase called off you need to get over 200km/hr. However a lot of shit happens very quickly at those speeds and the chance is that you can get creamed. Up to you if you choose to run, but if you do and it goes bad, dont sook about it. If it all goes well, dont boast, it can come back and bite you. |
