The clutch needs to get the oil into the plates. When the bike is cold, I recommend that you work the clutch once or twice before going into first gear.
Works a treat on my K8 and slips in smoothly all the time. Sometimes you can't even hear it go in.

yep thats why they are called a wet clutch. Oil is supposed to get in there and keep the plates lubricated.

is it like a hard clunking sound when you tap into 1st gear? if it is, this is normal, the genII is known for that ruff clunk into 1st

my 99 and my 02 had a much harsher clunk into first. my gen2 barely makes a noise and the bike doesnt move at all she just slides in like 14 year old boy and a hooker with to much lube

my ols ZZR1100 use to clunk but not the Busa i have to check the indicator to make sure she's in sometimes it's that smooth...
I'd rather be riding my Hayabusa thinking about God than sitting in church thinking about my Hayabusa
