Busgo will be an excellent administrator. You know that as well as anyone. If he feels it necessary to dispense with the diplomatic words and speak plainly, I applaud that. (You're not exactly known for your diplomacy yourself). If Busgo turns out to be a tough, uncompromising admin who takes appropriate and swift action without fear or favour... I applaud that too. (... speaking of which, I do believe you've been loosely described as tough and uncompromising yourself.)

Glenn, when we start paying membership fees, I'm sure we'll get a vote. Until then, its not a democracy. Those who do all the work, get to make the rules and decide on who runs the place. Actually, we all do have a vote. We can vote with our feet. In the end, if the changes offend someone, they can close their account. (Personally I'm hoping that's exactly what happens in some cases). There are other boards - but many of them don't give members voting rights either... and many of them have strict policy guidelines. I can see some people leaving this board and going elsewhere to rubbish us. I'm not worried about that. Those people will soon make themselves a nuisance on other boards too... so their bad opinion about this board will actually have the reverse effect.

Before either of you start calling foul, I'm not picking on you and this is not a personal attack. I've only met you once Glenn so we've really not interacted much, but I have a lot of respect for you dad. He's a good bloke and an awesome rider. I'm just stating my opinion here. Besides, people don't always just become targets, they often make themselves targets.

Volvi, Busgo, Rod and whoever else is going to be administering the new rules and code of conduct - you have my full support.

I've been off for a while feeling sorry for myself over painting panels, and I've obviously missed a great deal of "posting" that has caused DJ to pull the pin. So i read a few of the posts on this thread and skipped the rest. I'm all for free speech, democracy etc, but whenever a group get together, there has to be some sort of agreed standards and protocol. 90% of the time, people do the right thing. Unfortunately 10% of the time arseholes make it a problem. So if they won't self regulate, ban them. There's a million sites out there for people to carry on like dickheads, let them go find it. I agree with posts, we don't have rights, it's a free service, it's helped me get into Busa's (and spend shit loads of money), I've met people from over east (Bruce) and also had some great interactions and help from others. Hell, I even got a mention in Rapid bike magazine way back (wife still cringes).
It's easy really, every time you join a forum, you tick a box that says you abide by the rules. So set the rules that maintain the standards you want, and piss of people who break the rules. They'll not be missed. Conversely DJ will be missed. Simple choice, I vote for DJ!

I fully agree. All web sites cost money to keep them running. Several hundred dollars / yr. Do any of us contribute to the cost of running this one??? Not that I'm aware of. So in IMO the one who pays makes the rules. If that person wants to appoint someone to help them administrate the site then it's up to them.
We don't get a choice. If we want to continue to use this site then WE must follow the rules.

The forum was started by Volvi and as long as he is the Founder and owner, he will call the shots.

Ray... I'm not quite sure of what you meant by your last post. A sponsor? No-one is suggesting a change. Least of all me. Don't misinterpret anything I said as some movement to change the management here. That certainly isn't my intent.

Well i was told of this news last night but did not belive it and still find it hard to . There is one thing you have to remember when we had ezboard it was just about ran for us But Dj put lots of his own time in to this forum And asked for nothing in return . Will he be missed , yes he will. can this forum go on without him, might but dont complain next time the board is down or slow. As volvi and i did put some time into setting up this forum but we dont have the no how of pete so little problems that pete had will be big problems for us.

As for rules its a shame we have to put them in place but dont make us inforce them just clean up your own act
