It appears that DJPETE has decided that enough is enough and pulled the pin on his own account as a member of the OZBUSA club.

Pete has put in countless hours over the years to keep the forum alive and looking good for us. He has probably sacrificed a great deal of his own time to create and maintain this site. Yes, he did it partly for his own pleasure and entertainment and probably got an enourmous level of satisfaction out of seeing his hard work come to fruition in the board that we have, but we the members have gained the most from his hard work.

The ongoing bickering and infighting by the members has taken it's toll on Pete's enthusiasm and willingness to help out and I am afraid that he feels somewhat ashamed to be associated with the club any longer.

I really do hope that his mates, not only in Victoria, BUT all over the place can convince him to come back on board. Even if not as the club webmaster, but just as a fellow busa rider and friend.

The club has lost members in this manner before and it is a sad day when it happens but Pete's departure will impact us all, probably more than any other.

Please rejoin us Pete, if not as the webmaster, then just as a great mate.

Its a pretty woeful day when someone like Dj decides to quit the club. Like so many others he has tried to keep the excellent reputation of this board alive, but came to realise that the hooligan element was taking over and it might be a losing battle. I'm yet to scan the threads to see if there was a particular incident that brought this on or if it was just a case of the rot setting in so deep, it couldn't be cut out.

I keep hearing what 'nice guys' some of the major offenders are. Well, I'd like to see them earn that reputation here too. (I'm not talking about the reputation system, thats already been subverted). This isn't the place you come to sling mud, shit stir, insult, criticise, whinge, slander and generally degrade fellow members. Holocaust jokes are NOT acceptable. Back stabbing and then saying you only did it because you were 'concerned' is bastardry of the highest degree. There are other boards you can go play on. (Oh wait... maybe not because other boards demand a certain code of behaviour and have some rules).

This board is about riding. Rides, social meets, tech information, bikes (yes.. any bike), mateship and all the other things we have in common. You want to drag this board thru the mud and ruin our reputation - just so you can have free expression and make yourself laugh? Get out of here. I'd rather have the harshest rules and censorship ever seen on the internet that allow the bastard element to degrade and destroy what others have taken years to build.

This board costs you nothing. We ... and yes, I include myself in this statement... WE have no rights here. We are members at the pleasure of others. Other people do all the work, we just gain the benefit. Doesn't cost us a cent and there are no demands placed on us. Well, rather than taking it for granted, lets start appreciating what we have.

I will not allow my board to be ruined. Volvi... lets set some standards around here and lets enforce them ruthlessly. Rather than just lament Dj's loss and hope he might come back, lets give him a reason to. Perhaps its time for some housekeeping? Maybe we start making some arbitrary decisions on what is acceptable around here and what causes you to be expelled... or censored. One warning, then a week ban if it happens again. After that, zero tolerance. Third ban is permanent. Judges decision is final (judges being Dj, Volvi and Rod).

I do not want censorship and control, but I'll take that option rather than lie down and watch any more of this.

I'm not going anywhere. I'll take the heat for as long as it takes to flush out the trouble-makers.

Then we can go back to normal.

And no... I won't shut up this time.

Look, all I have to say about all this, is everything really needs to stop getting so bloody serious...I mean this is rubbish..its a bloody forum. You all act like its bloody "days of our lives" or some shit.

I don't mean to offend anyone but i think its more than natural to have a bit of bickering & rivalry on forums. It emulates the natural state of human interaction in real life.

If you impose all these restrictions and crap aren't you doing the same thing as the government with motorcycles. The idea is "oh...they can't make good decisions for themselves...we'll make them for them" & bam...you lose more things.

Just let things play out, I hardly think its the end of the world cos' a few people have a little argument. I'm sure DjPete was a top bloke, but sometimes people just like to take a break. Its like going on vacation from work.

Volvi, I have been saying this for the last 12 months. BAN these fuckwits before the whole forum is lowered to an off topic slinging match that no one wants to be part of.

I have now switched off the reputation system. DJ recognised we had a problem and sought to alleviate it with that system by getting peer involvment and for the group in general to have a say in the matter by getting theyre opinions on a member thru the rep system. He tried. But the system failed dismally. Instead of destructive posters getting negatives to hilight their behaviour and perhaps attempt to quieten them down, it had the opposite effect. They were awarded medals for theyre behaviour. And some of the guilty ones awarded negatives to those they simply wanted to piss off. So the system failed and is now switched off. Ok well all it did was prove that the general public cannot be trusted to partake in decision making. Fair enough, dont say you didnt have your chance to.

Now I am faced with 2 choices:

1. Allow the free for all to continue in the name of "free speech" which we all hold dear but obviously abused by some. Or -

2. Initiate some rules to preserve the integrity of the board.

If No.1 were to continue this board will continue with its ups and downs sometimes to the slums. Its obvious that self policing wont work with some characters who obviously cant help themselves. So I am left with no choice if I want to protect this board and not for myself I might add, but for its future as a valuable source of information and exchange of ideas with members who share a common interest.

I am left with no alternative but to issue some rules of ettiquete and behaviour. I personally loath rules but its obvious it has become necessary. So over the next week or so I will be consulting with admins and others in looking to formulate such a set and will ask our admins to enforce them when necessary. I will try to make them easy and not hard and so the great majority of posters will have no difficulty with them, however should curtail the destructive elements. I hope that I will have your support in this and for those of you that dont, to bad! I have a responsibility to all the members here and would be derilect in my duty if I do nothing.

Hey Volvi - it is sad :( I mean, messing around is one thing but lot of its outta hand :( haven't seen DJ in ages & PM'd him last week to see if he would join us in a ride before Xmas or atleast a lunch - but he wasn't interested :(

either way I hope you take all the actions you need to, personally from this club I have met alot of great people & have even found a new love here lol :)

but this is just a killer :( I know personally how much DJ loved the idea of working on the forum software.

Hope he does come back & we can get the board back to the friendliness we had on ezyborad

Yeh its sad, but he is still alive ... and i didnt see anyone or hear anyone hurl anything at DJ. Is this the excuse u need to become like u want to be on the forum (dictators) I think he is a pussy for using this as a excuse.. to pull the pin,, maybe some more here should fall on there sword. There must come a time for everyone where the rewards are not worth the effort and time (and dollars) put in and I'd guess DJ has reached that point. It's a shame.

As I said under the reputation thread, it seems the people who start trouble are the ones crying "wolf" in the first place.

Nothing in Ray's post should be deemed offensive, as stated they are "thoughts"

However, "ungrateful arsehole" is a very personal attack & little comments like these are probably what starts the ruckus.

If Busgo deems a post needs to be deleted then so be it, he's an admin so learn to live with it and his judgments.
