Ive ridden both bikes back to back and belive me the viffer is much lighter than the busa.Having said that,yes the viffer is a heavy bike for a 750,but then it was not built to be an out and out sports bike and i think the vee configeration doesnt help with the weight aspect as in having 2 heads ect,but when they raced the RVFs in the suzuka 8 hr back in the early 90s,they were tipping the scales at about 160 kilos and about 170 hp.....not bad for a 750 back then.The trick with the racing bikes was that they used plenty of exotic materials in the motor back then as they used the F1 rules and not the current superbike rules. Phuck its the phantom!<i></i>

Time for me to get on board.... comparing the 1300cc 160rwhp busa to my 750cc 130rwhp gsxr:
750 - 1.28kg/hp
1300 - 1.35kg/hp

750 - 5.8cc/hp
1300 - 8.1cc/hp

not to mention better fuel economy, better tyre wear, cheaper insurance, better braking, better cornering....

So Raz, what sort of times you doing around the island? Its a fast open road full of sweepers... perfect for the busa right? <i></i>

Mate I really wish on all my dreams I could tell you!!

But I have never had the chance to ride the island yet, don't get me wrong, I never said I did or have on the busa, but I tend to agree it is more open and has great sweeping corners as well know and yes I am sure the busa would be great down there "Busa riders always count in three's.... 100, 200, 300"

Also Bee, have a look on page too where my last dyno tests are

And let me know when you find a fairly stock 750 that can pull 500lb of torque @ 7,000rpm thats what I think I love most about that bike, the torque and of course we love to torque it up "Busa riders always count in three's.... 100, 200, 300"

Had my bike Dynoed by Alex at LAE in Zillmere, Brisbane on the weekend to obtain a base figure for future mods. I was very happy with the 174.7HP and 100FtLb from a Bike that just has the Airbox Flapper Mod, Pair Removal and Hindle Exhaust. I didnt have the fueling touched as it wasnt too bad, a touch on the rich side though.

I know these figures are only really relevant to me but I thought I would share them anyway.

I would also like to say that they are a great outfit with experience in most forms of Motorcycle Sport, well worth giving them ago if you are in the area.

Sorry I dont have a scanner to post the Dyno Sheets at the moment but I am looking to sort out something shortly

Well the number plate is Shredder's old one before he found out he had close to 290HP, I wanted to put something on it and we thought it would be good for a laugh, at first glance from behind no one knows which bike is which especially the Police!!

Initially I wasnt too worried about it but now 12 months on I wouldnt mind trying to match the plates for those runs down the strip. I have been looking into a few options and hope to have it done by years out or at least the first stage.

As for the Dyno Sheets, Shredder is looking after them for me, so I should have them back some time this week, maybe the weekend. Shayne

It all starts with a set of plates .

Next thing you know you'll be coaxing 600hp out of your streetbike.

Good work so far mate, now get to the track, no not the round'd'roundy (you'll never be a Rossi-nor will I) but the true test of power to weight the Drags .

Yep there is only one Rossi and I am not even close!

After three nights of racing, the fastest I have run is
a 10.31 @139.93mph with a 1.84 60ft, so still plenty of
room for improvement, wouldnt mind seeing that 9.99 one day.

Some interesting facts about Drag Racing:

NHRA (National Hot Rod Association) are claiming Drag Racing to be the Largest and Fastest Motorsport in the World, with 80,000 members, 35,000 licensed competitors, 140 tracks, 5,000 events alone annually across 38 states, Puerto Rico, Mexico and Canada, thats a lot of racing.

The NHRA Championship Drag Racing’s 10 month, 23-event premier series attracts more than two million spectators each year.

31 percent of Americans are Drag Racing fans.

A Dragster has 6,000 horsepower, accelerates 6 g’s with a top speed in excess of 330mph in just one quarter mile!

After watching its growth in popularity here in Australia over the last couple of years, I don't doubt any of this.

Ok a large percentage of the sport is made up with cars and the like but the Bus has a high stake in the Motorcycle classes.
