Projects - information section

GiddyUp Wrote:Excellent idea Louwai. But!

Alot of very helpful people have posted over the many years that the club has been going. Including mechanics in the know.

There posts have been critisised and they have been harassed. I don't blame most of them for just pulling out of the comments section.
I hear you Phill.
That's part of the reason for having this area locked. Read Only.
When someone wants to dump on another, it's usually a "spur-of-the-moment" thing. If they can't do it there & then, they usually forget about it by the time they navigate to the place where they can say something.
& when they get to that place, what they wanted to say is pretty irrelivent & so they just forget about it.

I would hope there are no small minded people here who would dump on someone who's offering free info & help.

Ok Louwai, I created such a section as you suggested, I propose making you the Moderator of said section (only applies to that section) whereby you can search, edit and post those projects you deem suitable. How does that sound?

Not a bad idea at all but like others said will take time but im willing to give it a go.
The best way would be if people did a write up on a task with some pics as well email them to me and they will be posted up something like ( Removing the rear wheel ) and at end of the post i will put something like (report by laurie ) etc.
then if someone wants to add to it they would have to email it to me where it will be talked over with original person that done report and added to the post so you only have the one post and it wll be locked

Looks like this is a goer and there will be quite some work to do to drag the good stuff out of the old posts.
Are we going to duplicate or start new?

If we are going to start it, we must keep in mind that we need separate Gen 1 and Gen II threads because the bikes have much different issues.
I am happy to help as well but only as time permits.

Volvie,
Sounds good to me. I'm happy to do it if other members are agreeable.

Although, I am totally useless when it come to bike mechanics (which is partly why I suggested this in the first place). So maybe others may have issues with a person who is brain-dead (bike mechanically) moderating such a section.

I also will clarify, I wasn't suggesting that 1 person go through all of the old threads & pull out the info.
My proposal is that members create their individual step by step instructions, including photos etc & submit that to (possibly myself or maybe Rod, Busgo or others that have offered). The report then would be formatted, but not edited, to suite the requirements of the specific forum section & then posted as a locked thread.
If any edits were thought to be needed, these would be discussed & agreed upon with the author prior to the thread being posted.
The individual member / author would be listed & credited with the effort.

As the header of the new section says, Info Only. No Replies.
This is purely to provide information for those who seek it.
If you want to discuss sometheing go into the old Modifications section or the Tech Discusson section.

So to answer Busgoâ€s question, Yes I think staring a-fresh might be the way to go.

All open to opinion & suggestion tho….

If the others are agreeable you'll have to show me how this moderator thing works.
