Front fairing cracks
#16
It is a too often and worrying sign of the times when we are expected to meekly accept lousy service and pay through the nose for products that are not fit for the purpose for which they were sold. I have never dealt with Suzuki Australia but have heard of some stories...usually with the company trying to duck their responsibilities. I think it high time Suzuki Japan heard more of these stories. If the local company cannot meet its commitments then those responsible....and I mean upper management not the poor fool in the front line...should be replaced with some who are.

Only a baby , 5900 approx hence the 6k service next week , 7 months old now . First alert to Suzuki was in early January when it had done only about 4.2k , looking fwd to next week but I think I might be pissing in the wind . Only noticed the cracks starting to appear in December but now there's some water making it's way inside it's starting to piss me off a little

Keep the pressure on the dealer that originally sold the bike. It is no skin off their nose when they make a claim. They get reimbursed the labour cost to replace the part. When I purchased my 1000 I noticed 2 small cracks in the lower fairing first time I washed it. Initially the dealer said that I must have cracked it. As it turned out someone had driven the tynes of a forklift through the packaging crate and just come in contact with the fairing. That 90 day stuff on the body work is horse shit. Don't back down and you will do alright, Paul.

Ok, Here's the update, 6k service is due tomorrow but I had to drop the Bike in today as I'm flying out of town early in the morning .

The cracks have visibly increased in size but not by much , there are now 5 of them and , apart from the one just below the headlight , funnily enough the two others are in the same place on each side , maybe that's where the 'faultlines' are. Just enough to piss me off even more ..bloody things falling to bits and it's only done 6k .

At the Dealer the Service manager reiterated that Suzuki Head Office still won't have a bar of it since it's outside the warranty Bodywork clause of 90 days -( check your service record booklet and the warranty detail section , I'd be interested if the Australian one says the same thing as my NZ version.) Then I started making a bit of noise , though I did feel a bit sorry for Steve as I know his hands were tied from the warranty perspective but hey, I'm the customer -right ?.

When I was offered a 'Panel and Paint' option I said negative no way mate, in my opinion there's only one proper fix and that's a new fairing - end of story . I don't want my 7 month old Bike going into a panelbeaters , I want a new part fitted .

Long story short , I had a call from Steve at the shop and they've decided to foot the bill for a replacement fairing component, new decals etc at around $550 plus fitting. Just means the Bike will stay in the shop 2-3 days till the parts get here.

Nice one

Good one ,& so they should . I think in Aust we have consumer warranty's
on top of what manufacturer's give & they must abide those law's .

Nice to hear you got it sorted. Don't worry, behind the scenes the dealer will sort something out with Suzuki. Good to see you stood your ground. All the best, Paul.

One possible scenario that I can think why this may have happened is maybe the fairing wasn't installed correctly (ie:....did they bolt it up minus the vibration dampening rubber grommet/washers?!?)

It may only take just one of these missing to send lots of unwanted vibrations thru the fairing....and possibly end up with the cracks that you have!!?!!

just a thought....

I told them I'd be very interested in having a look at the fairing after they've taken it off , would the fairing's be assembled by hand or by robots ?

Methinks the latter , and I still maintain that the cracks may have been there before painting and maybe the vibration has worked it's way through which begs the question about the Suzuki QC system.

I take it the Hayabusa is made in Japan ?
