Front fairing cracks - Raphel - 06-02-2012 Discovered about 2 months ago my 4 month old Bike had developed a small crack running laterally across the fairing just above the headlight - 40mm above the 'Suzuki ' sticker and about 50mm wide . Also two cracks of a similar length each side of the windscreen and just below the mirrors , these cracks run vertically, inline with the windscreen and in the same location each side , seems vibration is making the problem worse . The lateral crack is now 70mm wide and after I washed it today, and after an hour in the sun I pushed down on the crack and water started weeping out... damn My local dealer sympathises but Head office Suzuki have so far declined any warranty claim saying I should have made the claim within 30 days of purchase ... RE: Front fairing cracks - Greeny_SA - 06-02-2012 I thought You had a 2 year Warranty . I said the same, evidently any bodywork issues have to be stated within 90 days of purchase ..go figure . RE: Front fairing cracks - sutur - 07-02-2012 I've got one of those cracks. Do you have an aftermarket screen or bar riser? Because that's what did it to mine, prying the screen upwards too far forced the tip of it beneath the fairing to lower beyond the plastic could flex. Neither, my Black 11 is standard and I went to the shop today and booked it in for the 6k service and, I want it sorted . In my mind a replacement fairing is the only option and my mates agree with that , not so keen on Suzukis right now....booked in for next Wednesday ..keep you posted RE: Front fairing cracks - Aussie Steve - 07-02-2012 That has to be bullshit the bodywork is part of the bike and has to be covered under the warranty surely...I reckon either write directly to Suzuki Japan or tell Suzuki Australia you intend to saying what a bunch of crooks they are...afterall this is not the only issue people have had with them. RE: Front fairing cracks - Greeny_SA - 07-02-2012 So what their telling you is , Suzuki Warranty only covers the fairings from cracking all by themselves for 90 day's(must be in the small print ) . I'm sure every Suzuki owner in the world will be glad to receive that bit of news . I reckon we should all be stirring the pot . RE: Front fairing cracks - ROD - 07-02-2012 Same as Gen 1 they had a lot of front guards cracking at rear screw hole was not a problem but there are a lot out there RE: Front fairing cracks - Raphel - 07-02-2012 (07-02-2012, 04:34pm)Greeny_SA Wrote: So what their telling you is , Suzuki Warranty only covers the fairings from cracking all by themselves for 90 day's(must be in the small print ) . Yep 90 days for any claims on any fairings and related bodywork , I did'nt see the smallprint either , RE: Front fairing cracks - sutur - 07-02-2012 You could call them daily. For a month. They'll probably come around. RE: Front fairing cracks - Maj - 08-02-2012 Yep harrass them if 2 of you have the same problem i bet there is more , may end up like the gen 1 subframe where they never did a recall but would come to the party and help with replacement if you wern't put off by the initiall reply RE: Front fairing cracks - Aussie Steve - 08-02-2012 How can a company get around the statutary warranty that every product must have in Australia? 90 days is a ridiculous amount of time for fairing warranty...is this common among other makers or is it just Suckzuki cutting corners as they are wont to do these days? I may be rethinking my choice of replacement bike once I get my insurance payout! Totally agree the 90 days is bullshit , ps I'm residing in Christchurch so the first question they ask is whether the damage has resulted from an earthquake which is fair enough as we're still getting them. Last one sent the cat out the window and that was only a couple of hours ago ,that was a good rattle ..have'nt had one for a couple of days .. Maybe Suzuki NZ have a different policy regarding bodywork warrantys vs Suzuki Aus ? Booked in for Wednesday to get it sorted so I'll keep you posted , if it does'nt gel ..watch out for a near new 'Busa on line 4 Sale and I'm to Mr Kawasaki RE: Front fairing cracks - Shifu - 09-02-2012 (08-02-2012, 10:49am)Aussie Steve Wrote: How can a company get around the statutary warranty that every product must have in Australia? Mate, if you happen to purchase Brembo calipers, you will learn that they came with the whole 8 days of warranty! I wrote to their head office (in Italian - good to have an Italian wife) to express my gratitude for their generosity and asking if that was from the day of purchase or receiving them as they took two weeks to get to me. Their reply was that it was not a part fitted to the bike at the factory so they can not take any risks ???????. My second e-mail was in plain English and I didn't receive a reply to it. So there. 90 days! you lucky bastards |
