Free wheeling or being towed

I am thinking more as being able to use bike as secondary vehicle once family has gotten to a location, the break down issue is more a by-product LOL

As I said, on weekend we drove to the East coast to stay a few nights at my brothers shack and I love riding the East Coast roads but with family, gear and not wanting to torture the boss by locking her alone in a car with a 17 yr old teenager boy lol I had to take the 4x4 and leave bike at home. There is very limited parking at shack so dumping a trailer off would be difficult and leaving it on impossible as we visited many packed parking lots for tourist walks.

SO the idea formed about a towing hitch with front wheel off the ground and bike being pulled. Then I found discussions about possible detrimental gear box effects from free wheeling so thought I would tap into the combined experiences of the AHC to see what the verdict might be.

Don't want to buy another trailer and the trailer I got is very heavy (made by boilermaker/welder lol) plus only 2.0M long with tailgate up.
