Which mine VNSVLE? We do work in the area. Might be there one of these days.
I started off as an apprentice electrician at a Comalco aluminium smelter and did my time and two years as a maintenance electrician before heading to uni in Rockhampton for 4 years to do electrical engineering. Back to the smelter after that as an engineer and in various roles for the next 10 years so I had 20 years up there before heading off.
I went to be Technical Manager for a timber company in Burpengary for 4.5 years. A couple of years dabbling in property after I left timber having done my bit in building a new mill in Bathurst.
I went back to engineering as Lead Commissioning Engineer for UGL on NSBT or as it is known now Clem 7 tunnel in Brisbane. From there to Airport Link tunnel as Area Co-Ordinator for the southern section. When that finished UGL was lacking in contracts so almost all of us found other directions.
I'm now with and electrical design office called BRS Electrical as Engineering Manager and enjoying the non-construction culture for a change. No photos of big-arse machinery to put up, unless you really want to see all the screens on my desk? Yeah - not the same thing is it.

It is the mark of an educated mind to be able to entertain a thought without accepting it. - Not me..... Aristotle
