I do a lot of work with L platers and the GS500F is a ripper of a bike. As long as you spend around $5000 on it, you'll get that back, they really keep their resale value. Only thing to look out for is they tend to be fairly soft in the front suspension. If you want, you can put heavier springs in it, but a lot of people don't bother.
