Has anyone looked into the adapters to run the pure one filters? They certainly look like a heaps bigger filter, and that has to be good. Its nice to seee a guy take the time to pull filteres apart and look at them, rather than have some strange brand loyalty like alot do......
I am very interested in making some of these at work, and will happily make one for and post it to the first guy that measures the current threaded insert that is in the busa. (i cant take mine out and not have the bike for the day while machining a new one),
So if you have an engine laying around, and the ability, whip it out and measure it upVery Happy

Having said that, I will make some of these, but not sure if I would use them......Nerd

Cheers guys
Ben

Ben, I have offered the same info (much more of it) a while ago but with exception of few members who sent me PMs (with the e-mail addresses) so I was able to e-mail to them. not many were interested. Confused Instead there seems to be a lot of discussing oils at lenghts. I use the PL14610 on my bike and it is fantastic filter. The adoptor you need to make is 3/4 UNF 16 TPI 13 mm long on the engine block end and 20X1.5 12mm long on the filter end with about 3 to 5mm of space between them. I also increased the hole size to 13.5 mm for a better flow. Chamfers are 45 deg internal on both ends. Just use Locktite when installing to prevent undoing it while changing the filter. That will also allow you to use many other filters as the vast majority have this thread.
The Purolator filters are longer than OEM but with the OEM headers there is no problem. We are talking Gen 2 here. I am not sure about Gen 1. Full racing exhaust headers (I got Akrapovic) will leave only a bout 12-15 mm of gap so it is a bit tight when changing the filter Especially when they are hot Scary If you want to see the ultimate in ol filtering, see my post on a remote filter installation.
