Oil filters - drworm - 06-03-2011 Just came across this and found it interesting read http://www.calsci.com/motorcycleinfo/FilterStudy.html Has anyone looked into the adapters to run the pure one filters? They certainly look like a heaps bigger filter, and that has to be good. Its nice to seee a guy take the time to pull filteres apart and look at them, rather than have some strange brand loyalty like alot do...... I am very interested in making some of these at work, and will happily make one for and post it to the first guy that measures the current threaded insert that is in the busa. (i cant take mine out and not have the bike for the day while machining a new one), So if you have an engine laying around, and the ability, whip it out and measure it up ![]() Having said that, I will make some of these, but not sure if I would use them...... ![]() Cheers guys Ben RE: Oil filters - Shifu - 06-03-2011 (06-03-2011, 08:55pm)drworm Wrote: Just came across this and found it interesting read Ben, I have offered the same info (much more of it) a while ago but with exception of few members who sent me PMs (with the e-mail addresses) so I was able to e-mail to them. not many were interested. ![]() The Purolator filters are longer than OEM but with the OEM headers there is no problem. We are talking Gen 2 here. I am not sure about Gen 1. Full racing exhaust headers (I got Akrapovic) will leave only a bout 12-15 mm of gap so it is a bit tight when changing the filter Especially when they are hot ![]() ![]() RE: Oil filters - drworm - 07-03-2011 Thanks for that, Where did you buy your filters from? I have a gen 1 with a Yoshi full system on it so clearance is probably an issue. If you could measure the length of the filter that would be greatly appreciated. No rush, I just did a change with a genuine filter. I have seen your remote filter thread, which is what got me thinking. Not going to take it to that level for now though! They available pretty much in every spares shop. With postage they cost me about $8.50 AUD. The clearance might not necessary be a problem. Yoshis headers are easy to move a bit forward when you the oil change. |
