Cardio-vascular work like swimming will also give you that extra bit of icing on the cake as you will also feel a genuine feeling of well-being if not "lightness" with your entire body, due to endorphines tickling your brain. The thing about swimming is that it is very low impact compared to pounding on the pavement and you can do it at your own pace and still get the most excellent results. Last thing, get your overall health, especially blood pressure and sugar and cholestrol checked professionally. Eat lots of fruit and vegetables if you don't already.
Mate,
Swimming is one thing that I cannot get grip on. I am not Buoyant enough. All I can swim is about 20 mts and
I took lessons in swimming last year and still struggling......hence no swimming for me.
cheers,
Bill
I used to be exactly the same way. Take it REAL slow to start with in a 25m pool and only do breaststroke. Don't be in a hurry and don't panic. Go as slow as POSSIBLE! If you can do that for 4 laps, that's 100m and you are on your way. Always REST at the end of each lap to catch your breath, cos we are not trying to be professionals here.
Before you know it, you'll be doing 500m to 1000m.
Oh, throe in a kickboard and fins in-between those and you're laughing!
