Registering a club is no small excercise. A lot of legalities involved, committees and minutes of meetings etc. If we head down that road the club will eventually implode with internal politicking, agendas and interests etc. I have experience on that with another club that I was a founding member of, its all but dead due to inflated egos and politicks and power play. If we want this 'club' / board to survive it can only as currently, same as most other bulletin boards.
Our membership isnt that large, inspite of the number registered. Fully active Id say roughly 60-80 with lotsa lurkers or one time posters who just check in to update on any news, which could be as many as 100-150.
You will always find it very difficult to get regular rides going. Its hard enough getting numbers for attendance once a year for annual meet, let alone monthly rides etc. Were not like Netrider or Weekend riders, theyre all bikes P plates and scooters too. Were basically a 1 bike (model) club. Which doesnt really function as a "club". Rather an online place to chat and use to perhaps meet up, exchange info, buy and sell. It cant amount to much more then that especially after over 10 years running.
$100 raffle tickets? good luck, if you manage to sell more then 20-30 youd be doing well. I recently put up the sticker pack for just $10 and got maybe 20 packs sold. So dont hold your breath for anything big. Sorry to put a damper on any worthwhile suggestions, just that I see things through a 10 yr history glasses and have a general good idea what can and cannot be accomplished.
Nevertheless inspite of what I have said if you feel you have some valued, realistic ideas that can benefit the club in general dont hesitate to make them known.
PS. Late last year after serving this club for 10 yrs, I thought Id like to hang my hat up and pass ownership over to another. However in order to do that I have to be sure of the persons reliability etc. I did offer it to another but it fell through due to committments arisen on the other person. And should you be wondering, no I asked for no monies just reliability of that person. If one day I should find the right responsible person to hand it over to, I will after much consideration. My only goal is to ensure the longevity of this site and club for the benefit of others and believe it or not, not for myself.
