Go to shopbot.com.au. They list prices for almost every electrical toy you can imagine from cheapest to most expensive. They are not the seller, just the reference site. I have used the service many times for all sorts of bits and saved thousands. You are still buying from a shop (mostly) so no hidden bits.
They have the 550 from $899 and I have seen most standard prices more like $1400. Still not the cheapest but it seems to be one of only two made for bike use.
