well, i been in that exact situation and i was going pretty slow..
the copper didn't care about speeds, it was dangerous charge right there, i went to court and there was no way i could get out of it... fine & loss of licence.
They can get you for many other charges for wheelies, not just for speed.
I wouldn't believe that info you got.
