Dont worry mate we ahve a TLR (when finnished ) that would kick the Busa and the 1098R arse's all round the road , track anywere.
It will be approx 150kgs Wet,around 175 rwhp and approx 110ftlbs.
Ohh man. I've only just stopped laughing. That has got to be the joke of the year, and we're not even half way through January. I was just reading in my recently bought bike mag "The Real Deal, Actual Factual, No Bull, Fair Dinkum, Honest Truth on Two Boots." that Suzuki are going to enter WSBK with the TLR and all the other manufacturers are so scared of this incredible bike they've pulled out and decided to concentrate on the peewee 50 cup.
Can't wait 'til Ducati bring out the peewee 50R. Now that would have some serious mumbo.....
What joke are u talking about, i didnt see anyone throw any funnies ????![]()
All right, I'll have a think.
Ducati have brought all their WSBK knowledge together to build the 1098R. Your TLR project comes from a company with limited success in WSBK and belief that in-line fours are better than v-twins, for track or straight line speed.
The 1098R delivers (claimed) 180 hp with almost 200 hp available in race ready trim. The TLR project is hoping for 175 RWHP. To achieve this you're going with 1150 cc bored out donk. The 1098R is 1198cc. Further, the KTM RC-8 is about 1150cc and did not achieve it's hoped for power output. Don't get me started on the 1125 Buell heap.
The 1098R is 165kg dry with further weight reduction possible with the race kit (carbon fibre zorsts etc). The TLR is hoping for 150kg wet? Maybe if you're dropping the engine into a RGV 250 frame. The 1098R can also have further reduced weight with carbon fibre panels as extras. Performance here may be in your bag for the final weight figure, but I bet the 1098R is far more rigid than the TLR project bike.
The biggest problem you've got is a thing described by words like holistic and synergy. The TLR project bike is a bitsa all kinds of stuff not designed for the bike. To remedy handling issues you'll no doubt use a lot of hydraulic componentry. The Ducati company have designed their 1098R from scratch, the 1098 and 1098S being pre-1098R prod bikes. To remedy handling difficulties at the most extreme level they've used dampers etc. but have designed the bike for those dampers. Further, the 1098R uses traction control in the ECU with eight different profiles to be available by the rider while riding.
Kawasuki, you've modded you're own busa and heaps of other peoples bikes. Surely you do realise that whilst the TLR project bike sounds great and will probably whip a lot of v-twins around, it won't do over a 1098R.
