Update:
Dropped the tyre off to Bob Jane Eliz St.
He saw the tyre said no probs plenty of people do it.
The profile is 55 instead of standard 50 so it will tip a little quicker.
Hard to get this type of tyre at the right temp for road use but not dangerous and it will prob stick better than the Pilot Power.
Said he reckons I should get 4 to 5,000 out of it.
The heat marks etc should be gone in 100k but some small marks may remain.
I took the worst tyre of the 2 in...

For $135 fitted a bargain in my opinion.

All fitted.
Because the 55 is a higher profile it is very close to the innersubframe/swingarm but just get away with it. I have had the chain link mod done.
If you haven't then you would be laughing...space would not be an issue.

Looks...when the tyre is on you would think it was a newie.
Performance...
Already I can notice that the bike turns easier and quicker from the 55 profile...this is a substantial difference.
And the few corners I managed to get going through...it seemed much steadier and stickier...no drifting at all...

VERY happy, can't wait to get out on a decent ride.
Go for it gang, you have nothing to lose and money to gain.

There is n way i would ever use michelin pilot race on the road, did once going to a track day ,nearly hi-sided outside my drive way and then went sideways overtaking on the freeweay NO COLD GRIP. If u want 55 profile Supercoarser Pro's.

advice taken Ray....I dont ride anything like you guys especially in the wet so my case is a little different.
I have also used Pilot Powers without any issues in the wet...but I don't ride on the edge...I like to watch the scenery...haha

DJ u would be better off using a 020, those Pilot race have NO grip untill they get very hot,can be dangerous. It don't make any diff if going slow DJ. its worse when slow with those tyres. When i said they slip , i was going about 30kph.

They are already on Ray so I will have to see how they go and be aware of it if it happens.
I have given it a fang and seemed fine but not in the wet as yet....

Hiya DJ,

Long time no talk. I remember talking to you at the funeral when you had just had the tyre fitted. I've run a pilot race front and rear and was quiet impressed with it. I did, as Spam said run a low tyre pressure, 32 ish at the time i think. I found they heated up quite quickly considering. The only thing i didn't like about them was there tendency to break traction very quickly. Unlike the corsa's, the Pilot race when you grab a fist full out of a corner will drift/slide ok, but suddenly they will spin free with 0 traction. The corsa's, on the other hand, tend to hold a drift better. I think, and i could be wrong, that this comes down to the way in which the surface of the tyre heats through. From what i have heard and can figure out the corsa spread the heat and absorb it inward where as the Pilot race tend to spread but not absorb as much. There for the surface is sticky and as it scrubs in a drift it exposses cooler rubber whereas the corsa's as they scrub exposses consistent temp rubber. Hence the Pilots tend to spin then as you muscle the bike upright you find sticky again and they want to spit you off.
Like i said i could be way off base.

I'm more interested in hearing how they are in the wet for casual riding (eg your style) than how well you can fang on them.

Also u have to remember the x trackies have gone through a few cold and hot cycles at the track,this tends to hasten the lose of grip.

well so far so good.
I will update this thread as soon as I have any new relevant feedback.
But all I can say is for me and the way I ride I am very happy.
If I can save a few hundred every 5 or 6 mths as well...a big bonus.
I don't ride like Rossi.
Probably just a smidge less though...lol

update:
About 3,00kms on the rear and it still looks excellent.
VERY happy.
I have had no issues to report and it seems very sticky making you feel very confident...haven't had a slip out at all.

Vel still does it because I saw him last night so if you are interested go for it.
