Pan, the speed is averaged over a 1 mile course or for that matter the fastest of any of the mile sectors. Here in OZ its possible to be WOT for 6 odd miles. The slightest side wind has an effect. Next year 1 of us should film a typical 200 plus run to give you an idea of the markers flying past and attempting to stay mid course.
