Your favourite whisky...

I'm with Bruce, but I'd add a pair of socks and some slippery lino.

Heidi, we are talking about drinking whisky here.
What you do with Bruce and the slippery lino etc. is nice to think about but should be on a different discussion board.

Oh you ARE a naughty boy! What they said about you was right! I defended you, but no more.

I have NO IDEA what you are talking about, but I can tell by your tone it is bad. STOP IT!

Once again I have upset Heidi.

Please accept my deepest apology, have a large scotch and skittle around the lino as much as you like.

@ Heidi,

OI!
What did they say about me?
and
Why did you need to defend me?

(Getting a bit paranoid now)
I think I need a drink and to keep Max happy I'm going for the Benedictine this time.

I had the pleasure of working in a cocktail bar in St Andrews for 2 years where they served/sold nearly 150 single malts from every region. I also got to visit most of the distilleries.

Anyway my favourites were (except for Talisker) from Speyside with the Macallan 18 and 25 year olds the pick of the bunch imho.

If your really interested in tasting malts from a variety of regions you can't go wrong with the "6 Classic Malts of Scotland"

OBAN
(Sweet) A 14 year old combining the sophistication of the Highlands with a touch of the peaty style of the Islands.
It is rich and full-bodied with a mellow fruity finish.

GLENKINCHIE
(Ladies whisky) Glenkinchie is a soft, sweetly aromatic malt from the 'Garden of Scotland'.
Is has a fresh, grassy sweetness balanced with a warming, dryish finish.

CRAGGANMORE
(Medium) A 12 year old elegant, sophisticated Speyside with the most complex aroma of any malt.
Astonishingly fragrant with sweetish notes and a smoky maltiness on the finish.

TALISKER
A bit smoked. A 10 year old and the only malt produced on Skye. Its seaweedy, smoky nose and sweet maltiness is perfectly complimented by its spicy,
long finish.

DALWHINNIE
A 15 year old gentle, delicate malt from the wild and windswept Highlands.
It is subtle, smooth delicately smody malt with a heathery honey finish.

LAGAVULIN
(This is Smoked.) A 16 year old distinctive and powerful Islay malt.
It is deeply smoky and peaty with a velvety, complex finish.

Cheers,
Dave

Hi Busgo,

Then we have alot to talk about, I was there from 91 to 93 worked in the Road Hole Bar at the Old Course Hotel. Didn't see many air force guys in the bar but enjoyed watching the display from Leuchars on a clear night.

I also worked in Dunkeld for a few months.

Cheers,
Dave

Ah so the Air Force guys did visit, I thought they stuck to the Student Bars.

My favourite momento from those days is an unopened bottle of Royal Lochnagar Select Reserve they are probably still looking for.

Once again the Busa Forum stuns me.
A detailed thread on none other than types of Scotch!
Amazing....and educational.
I thought if it was able to burn by itself it was good to drink...
That reminds me..gotta go.... Cheers,
Pete

Hey this reminds me of a question that I've always mused over but never quite got answered properly:

what is the difference between the types of whisky? Correct me if I'm wrong but I think these are the types:

Bourbon Whisky
Scotch Whisky
Irish Whisky

Can anyone help out?

Just for the record my fabourite so far is Jim Beam (that's if bourbon is in fact a kind of whisky). There's probably better ones out there though I just can't afford to try them lol.

Bourbon is made in bourbon,
Scotch is made in scotland,
And Irish comes from ireland.

Irish and scotch are essentially the same thing, but don't
tell a scot or an irishman that. Bourbon is made from a blend of dead cattle, cough medicine, and shit, and this is reflected in the taste of it.

BTW - this is what I am into at the moment......
