Gen 2 1441 with stock head
#1
Looking at fitting a 1441 kit, was goin to leave the head alone and just dialing in std cams....
Can anyone advise me of any short comings of just increasing capacity.
Not chasing outright horsepower just want to give it more grunt in the bottom and mid range area.

Thanks Gareth

No short comings with mine just a bit extra HP, just don't go to high on the compression if you want to run pump gas

Mate get the head done with cams to take advantage of the 1441.

Or you could wait a while as my block pistons head and cams will soon be for sale.

You would need to check valve guide clearance, i believe there good to .395 or so lift but if getting close its always good to check , and not hard to drive the guides in deeper while the head is off
Would need upgrade valve springs from APE also,
You getting the piston/cyl kit from APE ?

Some how I think my budget is goin to suffer ...

The piston kit is comin from a different supplier in the states, they are doin piston kits for just under $550 landed ,the barrels are gen 2 that I believe been bored and plated by APE .
So I'm hoping they should still match up ....

I was warned not to bore out gen2 cylinders that far, there is a small chance of them cracking
Thats why we all have been doing gen1 cylinders, bit hard to get any warranty, not that you will get any anyway

You can cheapen it even more by doing the changeover as you can use a set of scored barrels and then sell your good one's off for good bucks Pi_thumbsup

Nobody wants a Gen2 Block.
...looks like G-Man will need to knock his OEM valve guides out & bung some APE Valve Guides in.
...decisions, decisions Lol2
