Just picked my busa up on thursday and have been having the same problem between 5th and 6th.
No actual false nuetral but it either misses the gear and jumps back into 5th or clunks a little then back to 5th.
Noticed the gear indicator has nfi whats going on as the screen blanks out while its happening then it decides it found a gear :o
Since its happened a couple times just been playing with the change from 5th to 6th to see if i can bring it on intentionally with correct changes (no lazy foot) and it seems it only happens when I may of been a little pussy footed :o
Hoping it does go away though, also when you say correct oil for break in, what oil would that be? My dealer told me he put "rock" oil in for the first 1000 (forget the name, the non-synthetic shit) , anyhow is this really recomended? will it matter being only the first 1000? I know the oil can be ok if changed more often or should they of used a synth?

Hi Slade. If a firm foot on the upshift doesn't work and you have adjusted the gear mechanism to suit your shoe size, the gears may indeed just need bedding in.
The engine oil for a busa is Mineral oil or Semi Synthetic oil that meets the specs as shown in your Owners manual - it is under the pillion seat.
It is not just for running in but for ever. You can play with synthetic oils if you wish but there is no benefit in it for road riding.
Other people don't agree with me on this so it is up to you to decide.
Most Suzuki dealers will use Motul 3100 or 3400.
I have used the Motul 3100 exclusively in my K8 for 18,000 ks and it runs as smooth as silk with no gearbox or clutch problems.
The oil is in the bike when it is delivered from the factory to the dealer anyway, so I ask, why change it?

ok thanks for the info, Read thru the service manual and couldnt find any indication if the oil mentioned was synth or not. You answered that for me :)
I have not tried to adjusst it yet, as I have only had the bikee 4 days and only just noticed the problem with the last 2 days of breaking her in. If persists will adjust gear mech and see how i go.

My False just wore in...it went at about 6000k's all good now, i've got 8000 on her now and been great the last 2k no probs...it will wear in mate

just keep riding her and dont be scared to be assertive with the gear shift but on the other hand dont abuse it either you don't want to bend a selector rod!!!

Funny thing reading about the 5th&6th gear. Friday i was riding my Busa and it either misses the gear and jumps back into 5th or clunks a little then back to 5th. I don't even know what speed I was going or what. but i shit my self thinking the box was broken. I did think that some thing had gone wrong with the change or it was me. Riding my Busa yesterday I just made sure it went into 6th all the time. But also I use 5th more then i should I suppose, I have no idea what went wrong, but after ridding the post I now know it was the box. My 1000 service is about due, and will ask the question and see what I get back. But I will still make note of my change up to 6th.

A few things can happen, your left shin muscle gets stronger with use, the box loosens up a little and also some engine oils/additives seem to help.

my problem is identicle to yours piperjon. Clunks then jumps back to 5th.

I had same problem does get better with each oil change on my 3rd new oil and getting smoother each time
my major prob with my busa is neutral to first..
esp on a lean.. sometimes i have too get into second before i can ride off..but it will come with time.
Mine did the same wilst running in .Adjust the gear lever a bit further down and when you do the first service put some decent oil in it will make a big diff.

In fact the 1st, 2nd, 5th and 6th gears are new in the Gen II box.
The fact that the 5th and 6th gears are wider than before, may be why they are a bit stiffer to shift between.

@cheeky. If this is when the bike is cold and you are starting your bike on the sidestand after the bike sitting for a week or so, maybe the oil is not circulating into the clutch housing long enough before you attempt to ride away.
If you are not already doing this, I suggest that you try sitting on the bike and starting it in an upright position as well as working the clutch lever once or twice to lubricate the plates a bit before starting off.
If it is happening while the bike is hot, maybe the clutch tension bolts are loose and need retensioning as has happened to other new Gen II bikes.
