2008 HAYABUSA RECALL? - is it effecting Australia or just USA ?
#46
Just back from getting my inspection done.

All good for the wiring on my bike.
The instructions that the mechanic had were much more comprehensvie than the American ones that the link above shows.
In short, the only major difference is that in Australia, they are not required to stamp the VIN Plate as shown in the American instructions.
They do fit a recall sticker under the pillion seat on the tray.
So for future reference, all K8 busas with an Australian VIN earlier than 575, should have a recall sticker fitted to show compliance.

So far not good from my dealer.

Rang up and told "never heard of it but we'll order the kit and let you know". Had to walk in with the recall notice and US service bulletin to force the issue before they would arrange an inspection.

Doesn't inspire me with confidence for a "Safety Recall Campaign".

When shit like this happens contacting Suzuki Aus is always a good thing but in your case if your dealer does not know about safety recalls regarding HIS PRODUCT than you should not be in his shop doing any current or future businesss!!!!!!!

Totally agree, I would be telling them to thier face they are a poor example of a motorcycle shop if they dont know whats going on with something like this - Suzuki would have sent it out to all thier dealers plus teh worksop manager should be on top of things like this its thier job!!

I recently told my local bike shop I wont be doing biz with them ever again after some atrocious service - thier lose as I bike a new bike every 2 years and am a very loyal customer ...until you piss me off!

Motorcycle shops here in OZ need a good kick up the bum, I can not believe the way we get treated when we spend 20k regulary, service is poor, attitudes are disgusting as far as after sale service goes amazes me sometimes how any of them actually stay in business.

This is a global k8 problem, all the hayabusas are manufactured in Japan, there are different lots of vins for different batches destined for certain countries, glad to see you guys are up to speed and get this rectified-Duane

Hey mate
Ive got one going in next week. It appears you will get more info from dealers rather than Suzuki (not giving much info)
My first thought was con job to slow them down by sticking a limiter in some where, but read info on page showing specs.. lot happier about it. Will keep you posted

Supposedly had mine done (taking 1.3hrs as per Suzuki specs) I was told It would need doing regardless. I was told the ignition barrell would be changed, but there was the same looking dust on top of the barrell, and the only finger marks were on the hump, under which the sticker goes. Sounds like you got an honest dealer... dont know bout mine

Well to say I'm effin pissed off is an understatement.

Dealer #1, pull ignition lead as far as it goes, no recall sticker under seat cowl. Note: grey insulation still doesn't sit under cable tie because there's no more slack.

Dealer #2, obviously couldn't pull more slack so broke the cable tie frame stay so the loom flaps in the breeze, no recall sticker under seat cowl.

Yes I have called Suzuki Australia and yes the bottom of the ignition barrel complete with cable should have been replaced.

I've got no idea what to do next apart from write a letter complete with photos to Suz Oz. Of course it would still mean returning to an "authorized" dealer because they obviously know what they're doing - yeah right.

Edit. dealer #2 needed all day to do this.

Bloody hell what sort of backyard bike places you have over there - I went up to Procycles, watched them change the whole barrel and even polised the finger marks off the front and sticker :)

You should make a stand on this and phone the Melbourne head office with your VIN number and insist that the recall is done properly.
(Probably write rather than phone and send it by registered mail with a couple of clear photos).
Ask them to recommend a dealer where a proper recall service can be done.

Sorry to hear about your stuff around andw

Mine took about 1hr to do and i saw the mechanic working on it from the office he told me he had some drawings or something with different angels that Suzuki wanted the bike checked in,he also tightened it up i did see him referring to some paper work when he was at the bike so who nose where all getting different bullshit stories.

Id drop those two jokers (dealers) you seen. after you contact and complain to Suzuki again id try some one else out of town.I had one guy work on my old bike and $600 and 4 visits later it still wasn't wright Knuppel2

Hey andw I don't know who your Suzzie dealer is but maybe try Savage, I rang them a little while ago and asked them about the recall and they asked me for the VIN No and so on. Luckly for me my Bike is OK but they knew straight away what I was talking about when I asked and I didn't need to go into detail.

Hope this helps
