Hi Folks,
I have just fitted some frame sliders to my Busa and would like some advice on fitting. the ones I fitted have a small leg (about 2.5 cm long and wide) and they attach to the front engine mounts.
From what i have seen these are designed so that only a 1" hole needs to be cut into the fairing with the bulk of the slider fitting on the outside of the fairing (see pic). This is different to others that I have installed where the fairing hole is the size of the outside diameter of slider and the slider is inserted into the larger hole (pic 2).
The problem with this setup, apart from the sliders extending a long way past the fairing (Ive had to pack them out with washers), is that to service the bike I need to take the sliders off to remove the fairing. With the other way the fairing slips over slider.
The only other consideration is the the front engine mounts are in slightly differnt positions (about 1cm diference which may be why they were designed this way - a little less obvious)
How have others fitted their sliders?
Thanks for your help?
