It would be interesting to pull it apart and see what is actually going wrong....

hey camel, there was nothing wrong with the switch itself
having the broken bracket allowed it to flop around
i guess when it got to a certain angle it caused the engine
to cut out, like it should if the bike fell over.

ive got a new addition to the tool kit now, a paper clip :-)

yep thanx greeny for posting the link,
helped me heaps,
also its got a lot more poke down low and its running
much smoother over the rev range, so resetting the default setting
must of made a difference, its a stock bike other than having
a tre fitted.
