Bike Running bad! Help!
#16
For the benefit of other readers, I have been in contact with my friend about this and he has confirmed that if you have any motor vehicle warranty issues that cannot be resolved with the local dealer, you should contact the Department of Fair Trading in your particular state and register a complaint with the Motor Vehicles branch.
They will investigate and determine a result.
In the case of faulty gearboxes, it may be necessary to perform a stripdown. An examination of the gears can often show the cause.

Some motorcycle gearbox problems can be blamed on riding style - in particular - "Clutchless gearchanges".

This habit causes the dogs to wear prematurely and can cause the bike to slip in and out of gear under power.

I am not saying that this is the case here but it is a known cause of gearbox problems under warranty with bikes.

I understand that clutchless shifting would screw any gearbox, and hence I don't do it as this bike is my daily mode of transport and I need the longevity.

However if there is a faulty mechanism (i.e. clutch not fully engaging for example) to contribute to the premature wearing of other parts, how can they say it is rider error.

How did a fault that feels like hitting a rev limiter at 7000rpm, turn into a faulty gearbox???

By the sound of the original post/question, it was a fueling or ignition problem.
Now you are talking about rebuilding a gearbox!!

How the f*** did this turn from a simple problem to a shit fight?

Has/does the bike jump out of gear?
Does the bike get stuck in one gear, refusing to shift?
Did it, or does it sound like a bag of bolts when you change gear?

If the answer is NO, leave the gearbox alone.

Has anyone you have taken the bike to riden it?
Or have they all diagnosed the problem by standing in a workshop listening to what you have told them, then making a decision on what the problem is?

Now Suzuki have a shocking history of trying to avoid warrenty claims. But if a customer came to you with a simple fueling problem but wanted the gearbox rebuilt/replaced, would you do the work for free?

Take it to someone and get them to ride the thing on the road in real life conditions, not on a dyno.

The dealer has already taken it apart and apparently found worn dogs and a bent selector fork....

Yep thats what happens, dogs don't engage properly for what ever reason and it kicks back against the forks, then its buggered from that moment as the damaged fork will not engage the dogs enough , and everytime it jumps it rounds the dogs more making the problem worse.
Did you get my mail?
BTW gsxr's are undercut std in all gears and don't have this problem.
