Misplaced Busa key - need another
#16
I have a ritual, otherwise I would lose my key for sure.
The key(on soft keyring) gets threaded through the helmet strap and the helmet done up EVERYTIME I stop. If it isn't in the ignition (or the hump), it's strapped in the helmet.

-Hope your key turns up, for me things usually do just after I've given up looking and purchased a new one!

I lost mine some time ago as well. Local dealer orders in a blank after you give them your vin number. You take it to a locksmith and have it cut to the spare. Then take it back to the dealer who should have the little computer thingy that looks at your spare and codes the new key to it. Then both keys and the ECU are given a new code and away you go. This means though if you find your old key it wont work unless you get it matched to the other two and recoded with an even newer code to the ECU. Complicated eh? I ordered 2 blanks so now have two spares. I never found the lost one. P.S. Get it done asap because if you lose both keys you have nothing to match the blank to and then you have to replace the whole computer and that is thousands.
BTW total cost for two keys all coded up etc was about $350.

Took the Busa in to see a reputable Locksmith this morning on the other side of town .Initially a challenge, which he obviously relished, he went on-line for 20 minutes while I had my coffee, then came back to me.

Evidently the transponder is no problem at all to match and , while the key stock is difficult to source - being Suzuki he said , he can match and replace my Busa key for $175 all up. ( $NZ ) No worrys and a piece of piss.

Service with a smile, I like that.
