E85 Race Fuel IS NOT A Approved Fuel

Now that Latin Quote I have not heard in a very long time, I think that it is the Air League motto.

As much as e85 seems to show benefits on the dyno, for some reason i,m yet to see a bike go faster with it on the track. If you cant show a gain in mph on the track with 12hp, somethings not right.V8 supercars dont make anymore power with it from what i,ve heard.A few guys in the US who build busa motors have used e99 and havent shown significant gains with it.To show a solid gain the head, cam, compression combination all have to be optimised for it.Apparently the motors do run cooler with it though.Alot of oxy fuels have a high energy content but alcohol has a lower energy content.Having said that if the dyno gain is able to be realised as a consistent gain on the track i,d consider it.

The lower energy content is misleading, if you look at the energy release at stoich values alky is quite a bit ahead, its just that you need more alky to reach the correct a/f
Stoich on ethanol is 9:1

That is correct. I was in the Air League from 12 till 19. Made it all the way to Squadron Sargent, then Tainee officer. Was twice QLD group cadet of the year and Federal runner up once.

Then when my squadron closed down. I concentrated on Drag Racing.

On the E85 guys. I spoke to Greg today. He is of the same opinion as the rest of us. We going to do our best to get the fuel allowed before the opening round of the Championship.

I knew it, I was a Juinor Cadet about about 36 years ago, man time flies.
I still dabble with the nitro/methanol motors and radio control.
Add up all of the above points ie: less calorific value of fuel but higher fuel/air ratio cancells, higher latent heat of vapourisation cools intake air charge for greater density, if set up correctly it should add up to more power.

Just sold the last of my Nitromethane (150L) to a mate that flys RC helicoptors, must use heaps in those little engines. Scary

20 to 30% nitro by vol for most. Stil that's enough to make up a lot of model engine fuel.

I'd say he's buying to split up with his mates. You might go through a gallon of fuel on your own in a day with a lot of flying but that's enough nitro to mix up a couple of hundred gallons of model fuel.

You were not taking notice then Glen
blackbird went 10.6 at 134 on e85. First night out, you were given me crap about the bike failing a breath test, then going back to bp98
was back to 10.78 at 128.
as for v8 super cars, you need to research that 1 a bit more mate.
had a look at the lotus on e85 ?

In regards to what I have written above. The person that went and had a word to Ken Dikie without asking me to explain 1st, can go f*ckemelves.

Thanks for getting the rocket put me.

To clarify, Greg & I have corrected Ken about the availability of a pump fuel in sydney in the past.

I probably should have worded the original post better.
