It was good for about 240 but got there pretty quick
VMAX's were pulling mid 10 second quarter miles back in 1985
We couldn't wait to get hold of them but Yamaha in it's wisdom thought they'd be too much for us mere Aussies so I had to wait till 1995, but wasn't disappointed.
It had FZR 1000 brakes so it stopped good too. The suspension was a bit soft & the forks bottomed out braking over bumps but I had to have it for the sound & feel of the engine alone <i></i>

it has brakes yes. but at 300 odd KG is not going to stop on a tyer that small. or is it ???? Cheers,

gears v chains - rev 01 - 16-11-2005
Yamaha didn't want unnecessary expense or complication of gears so they did what every other sane manufacturer does & fitted a cam chain.
Chains are easier to replace than gears if need be & you can always easily fit slotted cam sprockets if you're a stickler for accurate cam timing on a street bike <i></i>

Thing is ,you never ever have to replace gears and as i said the timing will still go out as the chain stretches.
Its like a swiss watch with all those beautifully made gears spinning around,not like some oxford allen cythe,youde remember those wouldnt you Phuck its the phantom!<i></i>
