Don't do it ? Don't send it to Mona Vale post office that is as I won't get it Lol3
You can send it post and we flash it with a bin file based on bikes configuration then simply have a fuel run done to check A/F readings. Any adjustment required can then be simply trimmed using flash again still no need for a pc.
Give me a call re this if thats the way you wish to go.

RE: Flash or pc - GRUNTMAX - 14-11-2011

If the bike has the same air cleaner & velocity stacks as Falco's,
http://www.australian-hayabusa-club.com/MyBB/showthread.php?tid=18033
then the fuel map / ECU Editor bin file that Pete uses should be pretty much spot onPi_thumbsup

Thanks Pete and GruntMax. Yes, I was going to get the air box changed too. I'll first call Motorcycle Weaponry and if it all slots into a plan I'll confirm with you Pete... or cobble together an alternative.

I can almost feel the weight of those standard pipes lifting off my shoulders. What a design failure they are...

Well, I rang the boys at Mona Vale and got the message that its not possible to flash the busa ECU... maybe they meant they couldn't do it, but that's not what they said. I was told Suzuki made it too difficult.

To quote: "you need a power commander"...

So, without making an issue of it I said thanks and "goodbye".

Methinks I need to plan a trip to Queensland. But at this stage I'll think about my options.

Interesting, one well respected bike shop's mechanic told me not to worry if I get an Akropovic exhaust that the Busa will be okay without any additional work to the ECU. He certainly made the point don't try this with smaller engines.

So, interesting hey.

I live near Moan Vale and I ended up sending my ecu to Petes pitstop and got it back within a week, all you need when you get it back is a fuel map just to make sure all is okay. Makes a difference.

+1

I reckon Flashing is the way to go. Ater riding a GEN I, I changed to a Gen II last year. When I first rode it I thought not much different to the Gen I which had TRE mod.

After Pete worked his magic on the ECU and I got a dyno fuel read out at the local dealer (to check the fueling, which was spot-on), what a difference. I just have slip-on exhausts but it has made the bike way more responsive through the gears and better top end.

RE: Flash or pc - crozzer - 02-02-2012

Bump for the confused! I've read this and other threads and I'm still a bit puddled :)
As I read it I can buy the kit (flash) myself and make adjustments as required, once complete I'll need to make a fuel run to ensure the mixture is optimum.
If the above is correct my questions are,
Where can I buy the kit?
Is it easy enough to use? I do all my own mechanical work I've just never done this sort of thing.
Does it have a standard map to put the bike back to a known configuration?

Thanks in advance to anyone who wants to help the uninitiated!

Where can I buy the kit?

Contact Pete (fasterfaster on the forum) @ Pete's Pitstop.

RE: Flash or pc - Maj - 02-02-2012

Crozzer If you want to continually be able to adjust stuff, then the kit is the way to go
there is a new release of a faster baud rate interface this week , esp for those that are logging and adjusting and changing there setup often'
BUT, if you have fitted a pipe etc and want a set and forget, then just send your ecu to Pete and tell him the mods and let him work his magic

RE: Flash or pc - Tyronm - 03-02-2012

I have a PCV and am going to switch the Flashing the ECU...

Thanks for the info guy's!

RE: Flash or pc - Rev004 - 05-02-2012

Hi Crozzer,

I've done the Re-Flash hear in WA with a guy from Tokyo Motorsports and was very impressed with the advice and the way he talks with you about your options.

I'm not sure how he's going as he was involved in a mishap on his bike so not sure where he's at.. Faster Faster do you know how Brett is going with his recovery???

So hear in WA we have Camel when he's in town and Brett as mentioned above both guys know there stuff about re-flashing, I had Camel set up all the pig tails etc into the wiring harness so it's a case of just plugging in the laptop and away you go. Brett did the re-flash with a starting point from Faster Faster (Pete from Pete's Pitstop) and then Brett did the rest.

I have a KN Air Filter, Yoshi 4-2-1 with a R22 Can and picked up 15HP at the rear wheel after doing the Re-Flash, The bike now runs very smooth compared to standard and boy does it accelerate from about 5500 onwards. There was gains from bottom to top but I had the biggest gains in the midrange right through to the top, as mentioned approx 5500rpm there is about a 10HP jump from standard and then it just keeps running through to the top end in the rev range where I picked up the other 5HP so all in all I was very happy with the outcome. The bike is even better on fuel as well even when pushing hard which was really good because I could chew through the Fuel no worries before that.

Anyway have fun you have a few options and the guys that I know that sent there ECU's to Pete at Pete's Pitstop with both very happy as one has already mentioned and they have only have slip-ons so it's defiantly the way to go.

RE: Flash or pc - Maj - 05-02-2012

Brett will be back at work very soon, , think its either this coming week or the one after
the dynos will not be in operation immediately as they had to remove them from there leased room , then replace them...

Thanks Maj I was only wondering the other day how he was getting on but all sounds good if he's getting ready for work..

I knew they were getting ready to shift but didn't know that they had so thanks for the update.. Pi_thumbsup

Thanks Rev, some great info there.
