RE: New shock in Ozz - busakid08 - 31-10-2008

Personaly I agree with Bugs - not all after market stuff is good & some is downright crap; I have a box full of stuff for various bikes I have had that are sub-std and crap! My stock K8 brakes are fine now I have upgraded to braided lines, something I do with all bikes as I think they do improve the braking - std rotors are up to the job for most situations (even trak riding fro teh normal rider) Std shocks are fine when dialed in for most riders until they need servicing then valve upgrades can make a huge diff but for the most std are fine - the avg rider is not a racer doing race speeds all the time (not that I havnt upgraded mine but hey I am an ex racer) ...fogot my point :)

What are the spec's on the shock?

I have dealt with Australian built stuff before that is meant to be the “Duck’s nuts” and it’s turned out to be nothing more then cosmetic crap, not saying this is, but a picture is not much to go on

I agree with you mate, my argument with Busgo was related to his comments that the stock shock was better than the Ohlins and that aftermarket stuff was only for serious track riders.

Quality aftermarket components are an improvement over stock and that improvement can be felt and enjoyed by normal road riders. The
stock stuff is fine and does a good job but is made to a pricepoint, QUALITY aftermarket parts are generally make from better quality materials and to higher standards.

To say that improved brakes or suspension are no better than stock for road riders is silly. When was the last time you heard anyone complain that their brakes were too good, that they gave too much feel at the lever in a panic stop. Or complain that their suspension was way too comfortable and that the feedback from the tyres is too much.

It is up to each individual to decide if the improvement top shelf components provide is worth the money to themselves.

Misinformation especially from a moderator is dangerous.

RE: New shock in Ozz - BUSGO - 31-10-2008

I have NEVER said that stock were better than Ohlins except for the fact that the Ohlins failed on your trip and the stock ones on the other two bikes didn't.
Can't argue with that Bruce.

No misinformation at all. Sorry if you misunderstand mate.

RE: New shock in Ozz - BUSGO - 31-10-2008

Don't worry, Bruce and I are gonna flog each other with Soggy shocks (or socks) at Jindy and make up.

RE: New shock in Ozz - Dan85 - 31-10-2008

hearing you talk about flogging each other and soggy socks in the same sentence with a mans name scares me mate. whats done behind closed doors is no ones business but this is a public forum and we are talking about suspension not kinky sex fetishesRollFatman

RE: New shock in Ozz - Heidi1 - 31-10-2008

Wasn't there a stray pair of men's undies found after the year before last? THIS is why I get my own room!

Take it easy Ray. Using a one-off example to base an argument that after-market parts aren't good enough is hardly valid. Besides, I didn't hear Bruce say he didn't like the Ohlins and I didn't hear you say your stock brakes "failed".

BUSGO Wrote:Yes, Pan, I did buy some HEL brake lines for the 99 busa when it was 5 years old and due for line replacments.
They were cheaper than stock and in my opinion did improve the braking by eliminating fade and giving better feel

Can't argue with that Ray Roll

Does anyone else here feel like everyone on this thread is saying the same thing, but not listening to each other?

Simmo, do something! These Canberra folk are leading us astray. We need counselling...

RE: New shock in Ozz - Heidi1 - 31-10-2008
