Folks,
I want to provide power to my GPS from the Busa. The GPS power lead is from the cigarette lighter socket with an output of 12v at 1.5amp. As the lead into the GPS is a simple round connetor (not USB which requires 5v) I am intending making my own power lead and not using the bulky Cig Holder plug.
Do I need to limit the power output to 1.5amp to avoid ruining the GPS/GPS battery? I will take the power from the Accessory Power Connector.
BTW, I have mounted the GPS on top of the upper bracket inside a plastic ziplock bag with velcro on the back - simple, waterproof and inexpensive.
Thanks for any advice.
Addendum - Pics of Mounting.
Thanks for advice on running power to the GPS.
I made the ziplock bag from a cut down document folder from Office Works - about $2 plus some gaffer tape and velcro for mounting. Its not the most attractive but it is waterproof and works. It is mounted on the handlebar bracket. I have cut an openning on each side of the pouch - one for power and the other for headphones.
The GPS i use is a 4.3 in screen that I got over the net. The brand is a XNAV and it comes with 2007 maps with "safety cameras" you can add your own cameras on the move and it records routes. It also has Bluetooth if you dont want to use headphones etc...It looks and operates very similar to the MIO 203. Im happy with my purchase - especially for $260 delivered (email Kevin at 's417512988@hotmail.com' ).
