Anyone compared prices with USA for a K8. Dollar almost 1 for 1

Seems cheap, might be worth looking at buying one and shipping it over in a crate,, just a thought

Yep, we are being ripped. That's for sure.

Can only register an Aussie complianced bike here though.

What differences are there? I know it only used to be a couple of things, like US bikes had the side reflectors and Aussie bikes couldn't turn off the light - is there anything else??

Hi,

I suggest you read the thread on Importing / Rebuilding Busa (in Buy swap Sell) which has my experience plus counter arguments.

Bottom line is Suzuki will not certify a US bike as it was not built to Aust Standards. The example they gave me as justification was that the high beam will dip to the wrong side of the road.

Whatever (minor) differences there are are irrelevant if Suzuki Aust wont certify it.

No certification = no registration.

Hi,

I have bought a Busa in US, the out the door dealer price is $10400,Scary including registration and prep charges.

Paying $ 17900 is a rip off here.

Who certified the bike so that you could attach the Aust Compliance Plate.

Given your success I would be very interested in bringing in an 08.

We get ripped off here for everything.
I want to buy a new telescope.
The one I want, bought RETAIL in the US + shipping + import duty + delivery to my house in Melb = AU$9600

To buy the same unit here in Melb from a shop is AU$14k

Hi Steve,

Apologies, my message was not clear. I had bought a new busa when I was in US and I paid 10,400 out the dealer (delivered to my house). I didnâ€t bring that back here, its still there – I bought another Busa here.

You CAN NOT privately import a car or motorcycle if it is under 15 years old and there is an official Australian importer. Unless you have owned the car or bike for over 12 mths and have lived in that country for that 12mth period, or you are immigrating to Australia and bringing the new car or bike with you or its for racing use only. If you are thinking about importing a bike talk to Australian Customs, i did. They are the best gov department i have ever dealt with. If you get it wrong the bike will be crushed.

There is also a scheme for specialist and enthusiast vehicles that were not imported, hence cars like certain year model skylines, GTO and Supra.
