My bike (2000 model)didn't come with a standard owners manual pointing out a few of the obvious things , so i shall ask here, knowing i may receive some ridicule , but here goes.
Oil level - how do i check the oil level- on the right when sitting on bike is a cap that when open just shows me the top of the clutch basket ....(filling point)
Fuel gauge - when it goes to empty does a light eliminate showing ultra low tank -- and if so -- how many kms after the light is on on average before it comes to a stop ....
On the instrument panel - above the speedo and between blinker indicators is a light "F1" what is this for ?
- i shall also be doing a service on the bike as i am not sure when it was done by previous owner , so want to be safer than sorry - any suggestions for any pain in the bum things that i may come across ?
thanks in advanced
Boc

Oil level can be checked by holding bike upright of stand and look through glass window
fuel light will come on with about 50ks left in tank
the f1 is a check just make sure it goes out when bike started (someone else mite no more on that one )

fuel light comes on when theres 5 litres left, on average @ 15 klms per litre = 75 k's left or thereabouts.
FI light you only wanna see when ignition on before turning over, if you see when engine running - Huston we got a problem
oil lever best checked when another balances bike on flat surface, rear bike stand tends to raise the rear end, so may not be accurate.
anyone know if theres a copy on the net of owners manuel? mines a '99 copy with 87 pages. if theres none available maybe I will look into making a copy of mine. but before spending 6 hrs on it i want to check if theres an online copy.

The 99 and 00 models actually get close to 6 litres when the light comes on cause the pump is not in the tank.
I know because I have run it to 20.75 litres and still got to the station.
(The last 30 ks was at 80kph cause I didn't think I was gonna make it).
For the oil level, OZBOC, there is a sight window just above the foot brake lever.
You've probably found that by now..I reckon.

Rev ... the movie was "Unforgiven". The line mentioned above was spoken by Gene Hackman about Richard Harris who was cast as a 'British gun-slinger'. The story line is Clint Eastwood and Morgan Freeman revenging a slashed prostitute.
In regards to the technical questions : There are many more trustworthy sources here than myself. Rev and Volvi to name just two.
Having read bits of the manual, I know that if the FI display stays on while riding, that's a problem.
I've never tested my reserve.
If you want a real laugh, I'll tell you how I check my oil level. I put a house brick (on its side) under the sidestand so the bike is just about upright. I put a spirit level on the seat. I lift the bike off 'til the spirit level tells me its level. I check the little window. At about this point, I ask Mr. Suzuki "WTF were you thinking!?!".
