Bloody beautiful colour and good angles there Jas.

What did you ride before the K8 mate?

Thanks, new camera too :)

I rode a 1990 Zx10 before this one, so the last 1500 k's has been interesting to say the least

Hi Jas,

Nice looking bike - mine's the black one.

Where did you buy your's?

How many kms you done so far and anything to report?

Bought it from Savage Suzuki in Midland, Same as you did?

So far got just over 1500 K's on it,

Seats a little bit hard, and I've had a few issues changing from 5 to 6 (it kind of selects 6 then drops back to 5 when you let go of the clutch) doesn't happen with a clutchless shift and is settling down the more I ride it.

Way too quiet with the stock exhaust on it :)

Jas,

You have put in a few kms already - well done!

Did you wait till after 1,000kms before you took it above 5,500revs?

Had a few accidental visits past 5500, but kept it in C mode most of the time and that seamed to keep me under control.

I suggest you newbies in WA meet up with some other members over there who can give you lots of great advice. Not so much about the GEN II but about the club events and busas in general.

LOL - I havn't taken mine out of A Mode. Tried the different modes on day 1 but couldn't notice any difference but I guess I was being fairly gentle with it at that stage.

Busgo - thanks - will see if there's a ride happening some time and join in. probably not the best time of the year for organised rides as people are getting ready for the silly season and have family commitments etc.

When you hit the throttle properly you will notice the difference, C mode is just like a 600 regardless of the throttle position, B mode (haven't really used this) is supposed to be full power but limits torque in the lower rev range and A mode is OMG hang on tight...Have lifted the front on the throttle on more than one occassion in first.

Hopefully will be getting a dyno run in the different modes done next week and down the 1/4 mile the following week.

You going to take it down the drags??

I agree about the stock exhaust being too quiet especialy compared to the sound of the Yoshi's on my K3.

Arghhh..whats this don't take it past 5500rpm for the first 1500km or whatever! thats the worst thing you can do. Break her in hard.

Most important thing, make sure the bike is thoroughly warmed up before running her hard. Don't need to run to redline but really run it through the full rpm range....hard acceleration coupled with hard deceleration. Roll-ons in 2nd & 3rd gear at 1/2 throttle then full throttle is a good way. Just hold it all the way to 10,000rpm or thereabouts.

Don't touch the brakes while it decelerates, get out to open roads and load up the throttle or your rings are never going to seat correctly. Trust me, its critical. Plus you'll be missing out on a good 5-10 hp depending on how u run her in.

HAVE A READ!!!! Please disregard your manufacturers manual. And change that first oil out ASAP....its preferable to do it within the first 30-40km of riding because most of the metal shavings from breakin will be in the oil & you don't want it recirculating into transmission etc.

and no synthetic till atleast over 1000km on her.
