Break-In Methods

What do you guys think of this?

I'm far too conservative to overly deviate from the manufacturers recommendations. Nonetheless it makes for an interesting read.

I'd consider the idea of a first oil change at 20 miles.

I definately aint an expert, but ive had 4 new bikes over the past 12 years, first time i stuck to manufacturers reccomendations, after that i run in how i would normally ride. my last 2 bikes have been new busas, first ride has been about 250kms,putting the bike underload in most gears ,then dropped the oil put fresh oil in with a new filter , then at 1oookms take to dealer for 1st service,

Not really a break-in, only a ring seating technique, I guess it has merit.

Yeh I wouldnt run a bike for a 1000 ks with all that metal running around the sump.250 sounds about right. Also some use a dyno and its run in a day and usually makes more hp with that method.

Only ever had 1 new bike, followed manufactures rec to be sure there would be no probs if warranty were needed.
Any i have rebuilt have been for racing and they get a couple of shortshifting runs, change the oil and there run in...
