NZ rider down & out

Fair enough this guy was speeding, & most likely would have died anyway coming off at 150k. But if the wire rope barriers weren't there he definately wouldn't have been cut in half at the waist.

WA are just as bad, they've been building the railway down the centre of the southern freeway and now anything not done in a concrete barrier is cheesecutter.
Disgusting. Even when a car has hit it, and destroyed a section for 50m it can stay like that for weeks. Obviously you don't need any barrier till they repair it.
It's a sham and a state rolling in money is responsible.

Theres a big stretch of them between Brisbane and the Gold Coast.

"European Union study had found that 80 per cent of motorcyclists hitting wire barriers at more than 70 km/h lost limbs."

Not cool.

they cut up low profile sports cars aswell. when they were orignally starting to use them something like a 300zx or something simliar went under one of the single wire fences and sliced the roof off or most of it anyway.pure and simple cost cutting measure. its easer and cheaper to install km's of wire rope than it is to put in proper gaurd railing
