If you're out on the old pacific hwy today, be aware the expected blitz from the carnage last weekend has eventuated.
On my way north I think I was saved by a big bit of tree on the road - right on the apex of a bend. Thank you dead tree piece ! I'm so glad you were big enough to force me to stomp the anchors and stand the bike up to adjust my angle of approach. Coz just as I'd stopped muttering in my helmet and was about to resume cruise mode, I took a peek in the mirror and "Hello officer!". All I can say is - shit he must have been steaming to catch me, coz he wasn't anywhere in sight when I started zoning in on the tree, but by the time I got to the exit of the tight left-hander he was only 300 metres behind and closing. He must have been parked in the bushes. No way he could have appeared that quickly otherwise. Anyway, eventually he was just a few metres off my tail and there he stayed.
We shared a tense and somewhat leisurely run from there down to Brooklyn. I was sure he was going to flick the lights and blip the siren any second - so I thought I'd bring the little episode to a head and take a right-hand turn up onto the expressway (which was bound to elicit some form of action if any was intended). He slowed down like he was going to follow, but then gassed her up the hill and was gone. Phew!
I can only assume that he didn't get me on radar long enough to ping me (I believe they need 3 seconds or something) because I was certain I was gone.
